Thanks everyone.

I think most of us are scared of a repeat of our last venture to be honest. Someone else with money comes in for Dyche and usually that would be that. We hope that he has learnt from many of the other situations where managers have jumped ship only to end up worse off. I really don't believe Southampton are in any better shape now than if Adkins hadn't left.

It would perhaps be more beneficial should he keep us up to leave in the summer instead.

I always have trusted the board, since it consists of Burnley supporters and local people, but I have to say a couple of decisions have been made wrongly already. We will be designating the entire of our old cricket field end to away supporters and have introduced some crazy season ticket price/offer. Anyway I hope that's just a one off and it wont affect our chances :D

Should Dyche leave hopefully he will be replaced by someone with a bit more on his CV than a good run in league 1.

I really hope, for the fans sake that a lot of clubs with foreign owners manage to learn and at least get locals in charge of the investment/direction of clubs. Its a shame for clubs like Watford..Charlton and Cardiff and I know a lot of their fans don't want to lose their clubs identity. At first it can see like a blessing, but can backfire. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from educated when it comes to Reading F.C but hopefully you will get their act together and even their books without any foreign hobbyist investment.

Its great being in the Premier League, but I do miss the nitty gritty battles of real football in the lower divisions, for me all this foreign money invested has spoilt it for quite a lot of teams.

Reading4eva All we do know is Anton has taken this club back 10 years.

What a ridiculous opinion.

I would suggest that the position we are in now is better than that we'd be in without Anton.

Well done Burnley fan for coming across as a thoughtful adult. Some of the cement-brains who inhabit these pages could learn a lesson from you.

And well done to Burnley too, not only for the promotion but also for the way you've set up your boardroom. You are 100% right about the international hobbyists who have spoiled the histories of Cardiff, Portsmouth, Hull etc. Their influence on football has been entirely negative. Some clubs, like Man City, have successfully bought their way to the title (the way City shrugged off their £50 million fine is nothing short of disgusting. You could educate an entire country in Africa on those sorts of sums). Other clubs - Cardiff etc - have had their history trampled on in a disgraceful fashion by rich and arrogant foreign fools.

Reading FC is in real danger of following suit. Say what you like about Madejski - and lots of people on these pages have said plenty of stupid things about him - but his clear and firm leadership has kept the club on a very even keel, and taken us higher than we have ever been. We all dread what could happen next...

As for Burnley in the Premiership... It won't be nearly as much fun for you as this year in the Championship. The Championship is a much more endearing league. More fun, more open, less expensive, easier to get tickets. But the tragedy of football is that no one is ever happy with what they've got... Oh well!

I wish you luck. I fear the nasty, money-grabbing Prem might be waiting to cherry-pick your best. Dyche deserves to be given time.

I'm not convinced foreign money is the main problem. There are some/few good owners, a few incompetent ones and some who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a decent club. There are plenty of dodgy ones who aren't foreign and some good ones who are. The FA needs to have proper governance to ensure clubs aren't destroyed under the noses of their fans.

The money and hype from Sky is a big problem as well. Everyone craves instant success and assumes spending = ambition = success. We proved in 2005/6 and you proved this year that you don't have to break the bank to go up. If spending equalled success how come QPR weren't already up by October? I think it's harder to stay up as the bigger money teams come sniffing around your manager and best players if you are doing well, eventually destabilising the club and its pay structure and/or team.

The money in the Prem is so big that getting there is huge and staying there is on a different scale again. That turns everyone there into a pack of hyenas and the rest of us either lacking ambition or wanting to become like them. I'd love one year for a club to win promotion and say they want to stay down. I'm sure there are rules against it but I can dream of a better, brighter world where proper teams succeed through decent youth policies, training and team spirit and those who throw money at it fail.

Personally I think the Championship is a much better division in terms of competition. Wanting to see Reading win every game means by default I guess means I want them to be promoted but I dislike the Prem (I almost used hate).

Best of luck. Stay true.

I agree, the Premier League is disconcerting. Saw many games when we were cheated last time (or outsmarted perhaps in modern terms)? by fouls, diving, drama etc.

One common tactic for teams is to fall over anywhere near or inside the box to get a free kick or penalty, but then again I think that kind of play is starting to hit the championship too. There is less respect for referees and favouritism towards larger clubs. Even players who are so good they don't need to cheat, cheat. I don't need to mention any names ;) For me, a good game is seeing players at their limits whilst trying their best to stay on their feet.

I think with the way things are going, we are seeing the Championship becoming more and more like the Premier League. Something needs to be done before the negatives spread further.

I am a realist compared to most fans and I will see our visit as a financial aid only. The more money we can gain the better it stands us in stead in the future. If we can stay up then that's even better. But its inevitable a club of our stature won't be able to compete with the big guns.

I had great hope in the FFP, but it looks like its going to be another flop.

Actually I don't have anything against owners being foreign, but I labelled them as foreign only because it seems to be a vast majority of failures are. Franchising and miss-ownership has wrecked enough of other sports to let it nearer football. By all means bring money to the sport, but I fear we aren't far behind the situation in other sports where those with the money call the shots.

I think even Manchester City fans would agree with me. Would they ever swap what they have now for their days with less money and seeing hard fought games? Probably not. But I bet you anything they miss those days.

Is there any wonder there is disrespect for Championship refs when they can't even spot a defender making a save in the penalty area that a keeper would be proud of, 30 seconds into a crucial end of season fixture?

I remember the shock of our first visit to the Prem in 2006 when we played the champions Chelsea. They were hoofing it up to Drogba and diving all over the place. Fat Frank took a tumble and scored from the resultant free-kick. That and the death threats to our players after left a really bad taste in the mouth. Next home game we played Arsenal. Both sides played football and I left smiling despite a 4-0 defeat because my faith in football had been restored.

As a sport I believe the players should show a level of sportsmanship. Few do. I'd love to see someone say "Ref it came off me". Instead they appeal for everything and whinge like 2 year olds if they don't get it. Then that attitude gets passed down to kids and park football. Who'd be a ref? Most of them deserve sainthoods for putting up with all that sh*t from players who only show respect on their sleeves.

The "money is everything" attitude really annoys me. It's worse in the Prem but it is creeping into the Championship with each & every day. I used to work with a City fan and had a long chat with a couple more on holiday the other year. Historically supporting City has been a bit of a badge of honour, rather than glory-hunting by supporting United. I bet the novelty of winning something is wearing off with a lot of the diehards. They'll all be replaced by the glory-hunters as soon as they've scraped their United stickers off their cars for the drive up from Surrey.

One of our best chants is "we support our local team". I'm sure you get a bit of it with bigger clubs down the road as well. I know someone who bounced between supporting United, Blackburn, then United again in the 90s. He probably supported Liverpool before I met him. I've lost touch with him but I wouldn't be surprised if he now supports City.

I didn't see that incident? Where was it?

I think those glory hunters are missing out on what supporting your team is about, you have to taste the sour to taste the sweet.

I grew up in Basingstoke supporting Liverpool until I was 14 when I saw sense, and, being the plastic glory hunter, switched to Reading mid eighties. I went to school with many Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Wet Sham fans with a few Saints fans too. Shocked 15 years later then to find, through Friends Reunited, how many had turned out to be lifelong Man Utd supporters. I went to school with more openly gay lads than openly Man U lads so I'm not quite sure where they all came from. Obviously they hid it under their spurs shirts and only came out the closet around the time the prem was created

You do realise that Burnley wins this particular stat hands down. (That is they have the highest percentage of local inhabitants attending their matches)
