Whatever people say about Alfie, you'll struggle to find many better strikers at this level. The frustrating thing for me is that I think he would've been more than happy to stay if we'd been in a position to offer him a new contract. We'll be massively short of strikers if he goes, and we won't have much resources to replace him.

Despite not making many chances, if we get a new owner, Adkins could get the players he needs to recreate the football philosophy that he had at Southampton, which would mean that we could be creating lots of chances, so I reckon Pog and Blackman could be handy, plus a potential new striker who actually contributes to play instead of trying to play the offside trap everytime a player gets the ball and moan if a ball over the top or through the defence isn't played

I thought that deal was being done anyway, so unless ALF was a back-up for Macheda then I doubt it. Especially if they've got past the offer phase, I doubt they would've done that if they weren't intending to buy, could have had the rest of the summer if they were going to sign one or the other.

(Although to counter my own point maybe they wanted to move whilst we were vulnerable)
