Oh, place your guac on my mole,
Run your fingers through my soul.
And the way that I feel right now
Oh lord it may go

I really don't know at what point SJM could have backed out

Yet many are patting him on the back for heroically sticking around.

Someone said he promised money for transfers in January. Can anyone confirm if this was true or did he lie like a cheap rug?

John Madejski in the Evening Post "We're always looking to strengthen, that happens 365 days a year.

"We will be looking to see if we can strengthen in January.

"I honestly believe money will be available."

When pushed on whether any funds would come from Zingarevich or himself, Madejski added: "Probably a combination."

Hardly a categorical statement that funding would be available, but the clear insinuation is that Zingarevich and Madejski would co-fund strengthening. I take this as informed speculation on the part of Madejski rather than a clear promise, and that is how I always read it. To me, everything was dependent on a takeover that never happened.

So actually there wasn't a promise merely a belief. So if this is correct he didn't lie ??????

Is it time for RB bingo? I'm going for:

"by believing that funds would be available, he was still deliberately misleading the fans because he must have had inside knowledge of the AZ situation"

and

"by saying "probably a combination" he was still committing to putting his hand into his pocket, knowing that AZ was about to pull out."

Royal Lady Well having watched that David Beckham programme last night - he was saying he'd still like to play and he might consider buying a club. So, I'm clinging to the hope that DB is part of this Phoenix consortium - cos he's going to rise like a phoenix out of retirement and save us all. Or something.

FWIW, he already owns a club in Miami. :?

But he's been refused planning permission to build a stadium. Come back to England DB, Berkshire needs you!

I read that as SJM, after chatting with AZ, agreed to match any funding by AZ, and AZ, mumbling
slightly (fingers crossed behind his back) said, "Err, sure. I'll speak to my dad, I hear you."

First of all, what has been quoted is Charle's Watts' summary interpretation of the interview given to Dellor on BBCRB and not the actual transcript. For some reason BBCRB don't appear very keen to play the full unedited interview!

However, on he basis of what is written in Get Reading:

That type of justification could have come from a Lib Dem supporter trying to excuse Nick Clegg his broken pledges and commitments!

Had he merely said that he honestly believed funds would come from AZ and not mentioned himself, then he would have been incredibly stupid (given what had already happened) but not broken a commitment.

However, when pushed (at which point he had ample opportunity to back track) he also strongly intimated that funds would also come from him. So why do that, only to back track just a couple of weeks later? Had he not had his latest bank statement through?!! Even if AZ backed out (assuming he had committed in the first place), why didn't Madejski deliver on his part of the combination? Perhaps not a lie but not exactly candid.

IMO he just couldn't resist trying to appear the great hero again. And it worked in some cases, as can be seen by those who still try to excuse his own major role in what appears to have gone wrong over the past couple of years.

From Despair To Where? Is it time for RB bingo? I'm going for:

"by believing that funds would be available, he was still deliberately misleading the fans because he must have had inside knowledge of the AZ situation"

and

"by saying "probably a combination" he was still committing to putting his hand into his pocket, knowing that AZ was about to pull out."

And still you fools try to defend Madejski's recent actions. Ironic thing is, that in trying to take the p out of those who haven't got their heads buried in the sand, you actually condemn him, yourself.

So to take your dumb quips:

He shouldn't have just believed, he should have known. And, without that knowledge, he shouldn't have been foolish enough to positively speculate about financial commitments from AZ.

Perhaps he didn't know that AZ was about to pull out but we all now know that enough was going on to sound enough alarm bells to wake the whole world and mean that it was incredibly foolish to make any such commitment, particularly on behalf of AZ.

By that time, AZ had already failed to complete the sale deal on time, had buggered off to Russia (Madejski's incredible admission that he wasn't in any way privy to his co-owner's diary plans) and, under the Chairmanship and apparent day to day control of Madejski, the club had overcommitted financially, leading to significant problems with HMRC just a few months later.

Added to all that, when Madejski finally breaks his silence again to say that he always tries to keep the fans informed, he somehow forgets to mention that he either has or is about to hand control of the club over to the lenders!! Nothing material in that then! We finally hear, not from the man who likes to be open with the fans, but courtesy of a BBCRB interview with CS.

Still, never mind the fact the club appears to be in serious shyte, you continue to laud the great Madejski, whilst taking the p*ss and making out that those who dare question his pivotal role in this whole mess are the bad guys.

@charles_watts

There are no parachute payments, they have gone. (I'm hoping he's only referring to next seasons money, and not the whole lot)

There are buyers ready but Vibrac have moved the goalposts.

The original rumour was that we'd borrowed against all future payments I'm sure.

@ charles_watts

" There are no parachute payments, they gone. The one that is due in Aug will go straight to Vibrac to cover a £10m loan."

I read that as ALL parachute payments are gone. :x

Watts has clarified this to mean 2013 and 2014 gone, not sure 100% about the 2015 one. :| :o

No it doesn't. I would have thought if 2015 parachute payment had been borrowed against already, that would still show now as a debt in the accounts? I dunno. But I'd like to know why it was necessary to borrow this years if we were such a well run club.
