Sad day for Spanish football but all good things must come to an end and if this is it then they've done so well over the last six years.

Hopefully they'll bounce back in the last two group games but after something like that the psychological impact is going to be very difficult to overcome.

Really pleased for The Netherlands, played like they're capable in the 2nd half especially and really showed up the utter crapness of the Spanish tikki-takki style. Shame they couldn't play like that in the 2010 final instead of just trying to kick lumps out of the Spaniards.

Really like to see them win the whole thing, they really deserve it after all the great sides they've had down the years.

Didn't anyone notice the Champions League and Europa League then?.....it was all of a few weeks ago. What exactly did the Dutch get their revenge for?...trying to kick the shit out of them and losing.

Van Gaal did well with his tactics of higher pressing and the finishing was terrific, fully deserved win in the end after a close first half. The lustre has worn off the Spanish national team for sure, but good grief.

This game was on in the bar last night...fair to say there was not much support for Spain. Lots of jubilation...and I don't think I have ever seen a better goal than THAT one.

I was annoyed by the Spanish penalty, I don't want this WC to be won due to referee decisions, which had so far been the case. I want it to be won on merit. The Dutch certainly did that last night.
I also hope that Spain still goes through, I'll be supporting them in the next 2 games.
