Can't say I go along with that. Tried too hard but ended up talking too much, and quite a lot of rubbish. Better in the studio.

TBM tbh i would rather a co-commentator talked about things we can't see - i mean we're watching the game so hearing someone say "he hit that from fully 30 yards and it just went over the bar" when we can see that, is pointless. He was pointing out positions players were dropping in to, the work-rate of certain players off the ball, how the wing backs were operating in the 2nd half compared to the first etc.

^^^ This. Murphy may not have been perfect but at least he was trying to get across some tactical info. Particularly liked his exasperated "dink it" when one player went for power. He also admitted his mistakes if he got something wrong. Neville (P) was actually trying to do some of that, he just sounded like a robot. BBC should never have given him that game for his first go at co-commentary.
