TFF The 'flair' teams have largely disappointed this WC. There have been enough great moments to fill the showboat reels, and some cracking goals but we really need(ed) the likes of Brazil and Argentina to light it up. The entertainment has come from the likes of Costa Rica, Columbia, Iran and Algeria.

The group stages were great, maybe the best I can remember, but knockout football seems to bring the worst out in everybody. Some of the 'football' yesterday was as cynical as I've ever seen.

The Germans are great (ruthlessly efficient) at tournament football - grudgingly I'd like to see them go on and win it (unless it's Belgium who I got in the office sweep - let's hope they do the Argies tonight)

I agree with all that.

TBM Bar thrashing Portugal 4-0 and having one of the most exciting games in the WC to date against Ghana. Even the Algergia game was cracking even tho it was 0-0 after 90

Portugal just didn't show up, Ghana threw everything at them and came away with a deserved draw and Algeria were the exciting team in that match.

Brilliant. It's just coincidence that Germany were involved in exciting games. They just kept playing exciting sides.

I know the Dutch hate Germany because your dull landscape is so easy to roll tanks over, and your greatest cultural selling point is a city for German and British teenagers to get stoned, catch syphilis and urinate in, but you're revealing a slight chip on your shoulder here Tulip.

I'm not Dutch, so no chip!

Are you German? If you had any idea what the Dutch went through during the occupation you would not be quite so flippant about the war years.

I know you're not Dutch, but their Germanophobia is clearly rubbing off on you.

I've no idea what the Dutch went through whilst they were grassing up Anne Frank to the SS but I imagine it's not a bad as what the Russians went through, and I'm pretty flippant about that so I prolly would be.

tulip having his usual 'mare.

Germany are clearly one of the more exciting teams at the tournament. They also have the ability to grind out results and shut down opposition too. Hardly surprising to do that when playing the form team in the competition and after getting big scares for being too open in previous games.

echo all the brazil hatred.

Allow me to educate you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_famine_of_1944 This still runs deep in the Dutch psyche.

I am frankly shocked by your responses.

"Her" as you well know.

Germany get the job done, they are a well oiled machine. Exciting they are not and have never been. Anyway I will be hoping they beat the Brazilians on Tuesday who are just a bunch of cheating thugs.

Sorry I assumed you were actually going to post up some human suffering with that link, not 22,000 pensioners dying one year because they felt a bit peckish.

In Hamburg 42,600 people burnt to death in one week.

The Russians lost 26.6 million, over 1.5 million in the Siege of Leningrad alone.

Admit it Tulip, when it comes to human suffering, you Dutch just aren't in the same league.

I remain shocked at your responses. Human suffering is OK with you then, unless it is on a massive scale.

I simply find the German team dull, you are free to find them exciting. It has nothing to do with national loyalties and as far as I am concerned you have shown yourself to be a truly despicable person.

I half agree with Tulip here, they can be dull and workman like as well as annoyingly good and very adept at falling over, buying free kicks and timewasting. But they have looked good in the final third and score a number of great goals. I'd rather them win it than Brasil

tulip's having a bit of a holocaust here.

Germany have been at least as entertaining as any of the remaining sides, and it's much harder to dislike them than it should be.

Whilst I agree that Germany have produced perfectly entertaining performances, it's still unpleasant to see our resident Hitler Youth member spraying his usual malicious opinions around.

I never said it was ok, but in the link you posted, it said the Nazis implemented the famine after a Dutch rail strike was called to help the Allies. Any commuter who's had to queue at a taxi rank during a strike called by the l8 gr8 Bob Crow knows exactly how the Wehrmacht felt.

Oh and wrong youth movement Mags:
