I thought Jordan Rhodes was expensive

Has a tier 2 club ever spent >£10M on a player before?

Pepe the Horseman Insane. I'd like to see a list of other players to move for around £11m in the last year.

Sky have just put their list of 10 PL strikers who cost less than McCormack.

Rickie Lambert - his moves to Southampton and then to Liverpool cost £5m total
Javier Hernandez cost United 6m
Demba Ba cost West Ham 1m
Berbatov went to Fulham for 5m
Benteke cost Villa 7m
Michu cost 2m
Jay Rodriguez cost 7m
Mirallas cost 6m
Remy - 8m
Hooper :!: cost 5m

Serie A top scorer was sold for the equivalent of about £3M more than McCormack this summer

Hull bought Shane Long for £7m......he's the same age and a better striker

The signing of McCormack can only be judged at the end of the season. If he's an integral part of Fulham regaining their top flight status the money would have been worth it.

genome I wonder how many other players have turned down Inter Milan for Hull :?:

It's perhaps a bit odd on the surface of things but potentially it's a better move for him.

He's been at a big club and not made it and turned down a move to Cardiff and the Premier League last year to go on loan to Palace instead, so it seems he's got a clear idea of what he wants and what might be best for him long term.

At Hull he'll have a very good chance of playing week-in week-out for a reasonable side with some decent players. I imagine they're paying him well but he could possibly have got more elsewhere but I'm hoping his decision is based on giving him the best chance to play as opposed to the most cash.

Ross McCormack is now the 8th most expensive British striker in history behind Carroll, Rooney, Bent, Shearer, Fletcher, Sturridge & Fowler.

He's failed in 3 of his 6 Championship seasons, scoring 4, 2 and 5 in addition to his successful seasons of 21, 18 and 28.

It's a questionable record.

Some journalist on the radio just said Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal for €42M is now agreed between clubs and player and he will complete a medical and sign later this week.

reckons Juve officially told Barcelona that they were pulling out today when Arsenal upped their bid leaving only Arsenal offering and Barca accepted

He turned down Cardiff in January to assess the best next move for him in the summer after playing on loan in the Premier.

He's now, apparently, turned down interest from Inter and others who are probably higher up the league, to sign for Hull where he'll have more chance of playing every week and continuing his development. Others before him have chased the money and ended up on the bench for 90% of the time and their careers have stalled.

I can see why he did it, yeah. I can't imagine him seeing it as anything other than a stepping stone for him though.
