Royal Ginger At least the bus queue is quite quick and constantly moving

Really?

Getting to the ground is OK. But after the match (if you stay till the end), you wait in a huge queue with no buses as they've all gone to town. You then wait for them to come back.

Or, they only open one bus so it takes bloody ages to get on.

I've never left a game early, but walk with purpose back towards the bus and usually sit in the North Stand. I usually only queue for 5 or 6 minutes tops. 10-12 if I'm in the South.

^^^ this

A strong walk from North Stand straight
after the final whistle usually gets me on the second or third bus back into town.

Surprised.

I am at top of Y25 so have to wait for everyone to leave in front of me which explains it

I'm two thirds up Y26 and stay to clap the players and I still only have to wait a max of 10 minutes, usually less. Although I walk it when it's still light and the river route isn't flooded.

My main thinking is from about a year and a half ago when I used to get the bus around that time. It was winter, and an evening game. I remember standing in the queue for around 40 minutes cold and miserable.

Maybe things have changed or it was just the wrong time or a one off.

Two years ago against Fulham was pretty rotten. I seem to remember being in the queue for a long time with torrential rain and sideways hailstones.

Don't forget the away fan factor. If Wigan are playing on a Tuesday night and only bring 50 fans then the likelihood is that the majority will drive or get a coach. Logic dictates that a significant proportion of a full allocation of Fulham fans would get the train and so swell the station bus numbers by a not insignificant proportion, probably 1,000 to 1,500.

Both Reading Buses and their drivers (who get £1 from every fare personally) do very well out of it so they'll be keen to keep it I'd have thought. The train won't suit everyone (or could fit everyone).

Not to mention the possibility of a shuttle bus from Green Park Station to the ground. It is not a short walk from the planned site from what I can see.

Ideal for those with season tickets already, unless it doesn't fall under the "Reading Station (Any)" bracket.

Sounds about right to me. I reckon that could get it done in 18 months if they had to.

Has anyone approached Dirk Gently for comment?

Alexander Litvinenko No. I think the whole scheme is now dead in the water.

Hence no GP station.

How would one collect on a bet with said poster as to whether or not the station would open?
