Favourite RFC backroom staff ever

by floyd__streete » 10 Jul 2014 12:58

Loved John Gorman, he had a chat with me on the stairs of what they used to call the Jazz Cafe and what is now, I believe, called 'Rumblestix'?

Everyone - particularly the ladies - loves Sal Bibbo.

H8: Andy Crosby. Ex-Oxford 'yes man' to Atkins.

Jon Fearn always seemed like he preferred the company of Russell Harty to Grace Jones.

Wasn't it Wally Downs who squared up to Colin mid match, a few years ago.

If so - him.

Considering your comments about John Fearn, I'm amazed you didn't pick him as Ass man

Groundsman: Gordon Neate

How many can say they've both played for Reading and destroyed the pitch with weedkiller.

I don't normally look at the Team board but this is a strong thread. I have no idea on whether it'll do the numbers it deserves but that's down to the Team Board people rather than the quality of the thread.

+1 for Ron Grant. His stock response to "Hello Rons" from runners on Reading Half Marathon (stands at the junction of Bath and Liebenrood Roads) is "g'arn the Reading"

Neate and Grant great shouts, surprised kevin girdler isnt in the mix already. Think he was in marketing at the club as well as being the legend behind the Royals Anthem.

Didn't Wally Downes invite Colin in to his or Steve Coppell's office after a game for a drink and got up from behind the desk with his trousers down?

If true then he should come 3rd behind Ron Grant and Gordon Neate.

Gordon was a drinking legend at a wedding anniversary party myself and the missus went to a few years ago. We sat there reminiscing and boy did he put the scotch away, that night I forgave him the weedkiller incident!!

Did he? I thought he killed it with over application of fertiliser? Either way the same effect of course!

Allen wasn't exactly backroom backroom, in fact he made sure he was pretty centre stage
