£500,000 seems a massive amount. What happens if SB walks away? Does the £500,000 just get bunged on the debt pile with wonga/vibrac interest rates applied?

No, it's Vibrac. It's their legal fees, they've reneged on the initial agreement (not legally binding).

Has anyone read the book Capital - there's a scene where a young star gets injured and it's all about the lawyers wrangling about who is responsible etc. and the way they're only interested in the money. Reminds me of this. Not surprising really .... lawyers.
A bit like the joke - a pope and a lawyer arrive in heaven and they're shown around the place; first the pope is taken to a dingy little shack, but after that the lawyer is taken to a huge mansion with all the most amazing fittings etc. and the pope says: 'how come he gets this amazing place and me, the pope, only gets this little shack?' and the response is: 'We've had a lot of your type over the years - but it's the first time one of his type has come here for a long time ...!'
