Ian Royal
Edwards impressing, first time I've seen anything of him.

What sort of a fan are you?

And where exactly did you see him? Youth game behind closed doors or in Australia?

Saw Edwards and his brother play at Eastleigh in pre-season 2011. They both looked crap.
Saw him play in the Farnborough friendly as well.

Ok, so it's fair to say that people have gone to some fair lengths or sat through some fairly lowly games to see him and mostly a couple of seasons ago when he was mostly forgettable.

I still don't really understand why pisschrist is berating Ian Royal for only just having seen anything of him.

I'm used to it. Besides, it's obviously a regular with a new username.

Renewed thanks. Thoroughly enjoyed my time, didn't find it nearly as difficult to budget as I'd expected and I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing some footballing style progress this coming season.

You're welcome to say hi any time PO.

How bad did the injury to HRK look. I hear he had to be subbed.

You must be watching a different game to me then.

Highlight so far is the photographer sat in front of the stand.

There was a good 15 min period in the middle, but yes it's dropped off since then.

Think we're playing some tidy stuff though. Stevenage are kicking us at every opportunity so no surprise that we're being a little careful.

Don't get why they'd play like that, surely you take it easy with regards to challenges and such during friendlies?

Wycombe game observations:

Pog is one of the very best players to wear a Reading shirt ever. Best player on the pitch by a long way with Jordan Obita a fairly distant second.

Wycombe were awful and we should have won 8-0.

Most of the youngsters are neat and tidy enough but Edwards typifies a lack of steel in the side, he is very weak and a tame Wycombe side muscled him off the ball too often.

Akpan and HRK have got no better over the summer. Two senior players now, step it up or f*ck the f*ck off.

Yep, not massively enthused by Edwards tonight. Nice touches and plenty of energy but absolutely no strength.

Comments above about Edwards are why I really don't understand the people who think we can throw players like Kuhl and Tanner in next year, when they're clearly going to be out-gamed in midfield.

Disagree with that. I was at that Eastleigh game and thought Ryan Edwards was brilliant. Agree that his brother was not so good, though.

No scapegoating! Just calling it how I see it. He's a tidy player but either needs to bulk up or stop trying to back into players.

Wasn't a thriller, but we could easily have scored a couple. Taylor impressed me, I like his style, and Obita looked good in the no. 10 role towards the end. Not going to draw too many conclusions as we played most of the game with no recognised central midfielders and a right footed player at left back.. it was okay, nowhere near as bad as is being made out on twatter.
