SJM has wanted out for years and made no secret of that fact. The Thai's will not be in Royal Berkshire very often so need

1 a 'face' of RFC in their absence (think of the Venkys)
2 someone who they can trust to do the right thing without fear of double crossing or anything untoward.

SJM fulfills both these criteria. I suspect he will get to keep the apartment for a few years and perhaps a cut of the development which I strongly suspect will now occur to recoup the outlay
