Eddhaines1871 To be quite fair Sir john did save us from administration and a possible merging with Ox***d all those years ago and has put more money into our club than all of us put together, so lay off him.

It was Roger Smee and Roy Tranter who stopped that happening!

Well done for conceding the high ground so quickly by referring to Sir John as "the ego".

loyalroyaldaz FFS ian, its not about gaining credibilty is it?
Its just a case of Reading Fans who may or may not have a snippet of info that other Reading Fans might want to hear.
Im sure Mulitsync doesnt care less if people believe he is creditable or not and that goes for me as well but what pisses people off is the balling out they get for daring to put it out there.

loyalroyaldaz I get no enjoyment out of it whatsoever. As a supporter for 40 years and season ticket holder for the last 20 of those i think it sucks. What i do get Fukd off with is getting slagged off anytime you put something out there you have been told in good faith by the absolute nob heads who think they know it all.
They know fuk all more than i do but all they want to do is rubbish everyone else.
"Ive been a nobber for ten years" it means my opinion is more valid than yours".
No it doesnt mate it just means your head has been up your arse longer than mine!

So it's okay to slag off people's info/opinions as long as it isn't the same as yours :?:

And who can forget that wonderful 106 point Championship promotion season under Alan Pardew? Madejski appointed him.

Let's not overlook the second Championship promotion season under Brendan Rogers, again appointed by Madejski.

Well that told us very little. Deal not done yet (clearly we wait for directors test before we get excited), other parties remain interest (obviously Samuelson is sat there hoping it goes tits so he can get more money out of us), but SJM thinks we all know what's going on.. wow.

We’ll there you go confirmation Madejski has sold out and failed again.

The bloke got lucky with Autotrader but since then everything King Midas Madejski has turned to dust.

Just about the only Multi millionaire in this recession that has lost a fortune.

Desperate to sell, brings in agents and advisors who cost hundreds of thousands to the club and we end up selling Alfie despite spending nothing in the Prem and having millions in parachute payments.

We end up with an old granny more dodgy than Anton, all because he won’t sell out completely and let go the stadium name.
Sadly therefore we are still left with this total and utter loser hanging on dragging the club backwards and at the end of the day instead of selling completely to football minded people sells out to property developer who loves the Westfield Olympic stadium complex idea instead of good old fashion sport.
If you thought Anton was bad.......... comeback to this thread in 18 months and see what this lot has done to our club.

Madejski, Hammond and Howe are Herpes to this club, a tingle of excitement at first then you realise what you’ve got and it becomes a fecking pain that won’t piss off!

So, Tamworth Royal, the new consortium have plans to develop the Madejski into a complex like the Westfield Olympic complex instead of good old fashion sport. Do you mean the same Olympic complex that staged the best sporting event this country has ever seen? The same complex that has fantastic road and rail connections? The complex that has a shopping centre which is one of the best in London? Which includes the staium that three London clubs fought hard to make their home ground? Can't wait!

Thanks for pointing this out, Tamworth Royal, Thanks also to the consortium for making this happen. The biggest thanks, obviously, must go to Sir John for having the vision to make this happen, and even waiting until the right buyer came along - even when his own financial situation could have made him sell to the first buyer.

You also point ou that this will happen within eighteen months. I think that you are being too optimistic there, but you never know.

As for the herpes, I'm sure that you can have it treated.

Proof Hampshire, just shows what you know doesn't it, that you can't see yet again what's happening all over again. Madejski sells out and what have the new owners done ???? Feck all.
Let me just remind you so far this season son.
Madejski sells Alfie £2.5 million because Howe can't balance the books
Sells club
New owners
Purchase Cox £600k
Loan Mackie
Anton Ferdinand Free hahaha yea that's Anton Ferdinand

Sell Morrison £4 million

That's a surplus of £5.9million and Adkins says today http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/footb ... ng-7627305

What a fecking joke and is this the new owners statement of intent ! Sell don't re-invest unless it's bricks and motar

Sold out and the dick advises in back pocket profit yet again to new owners

Well, it was you who stated the ambitious plans the consortium have got for this club, and that it would become evident in eighteen months. I personally think you're wrond and that all they want to do is to keep this club going and make us as good as we can be. They are mature business people, rather than wide-eyed kids like Anton.

You may have forgotten that in the last 20 years or so, under Madejski's leadership, we have had the most successful period of our 153 year history. Even with his well documented financial worries, he didn't just let the club go, he kept in control until a suitable buyer could be found. I've never met him, and I probably wouldn't like him if I did, being the dyed-in-the-wool Thatcherite that he is, but he's done for Reading FC what nobody has done before and that's good enough for me. Alf was a good player for us, as was Morrison at the beginning of his time here, but selling them was the best thing we could have done. Cox has come back (much to the dismay of a lot of posters on here), and he is developing a decent partnership with Pog which, I'm sure will pay dividends this season and into the future. We don't yet know what Ferdinand is like he may be a success or a failure. I am not a football manager and don't know the real things that make a good player. Luckily, we have Adkins, who has had a modicum of succes in management, and I certainly trust his abilities over mine or yours. In any case, Hector didn't do a bad job on Saturday, by most accounts.

You're no different to a lot of other football fans, who demand instant success and feel depressed when we lose a game, or get relegated, or miss out on promotion. Try and take a longer view of the situation.

Why splash the cash and block the path of the Academy players into the 1st team?

Look beyond this season.

SJM always said when AZ came in that we would not change the prudent financial policies of the past - deeper pockets just meant that we would not be forced to sell at the end of every season to fill a black hole. Unfortunately AZ got seduced by easy quick success and blew all that out of the window.

Hopefully we are now seeing a return to good sense and a gradual investment in the things that are far more likely to achieve long term stability and success - young players and the Academy. By playing our 18-20 year olds in the 1st team now that is going to have a massive effect on our 14 year olds. And our 12 year olds. And the parents of talented 8-10 year olds in the area....

Chelsea and Arsenal have hardly promoted a single Academy player to their 1st team in the last 5 years. Dunno about the likes of Spurs, Palace, West Ham, QPR and the others, but if we demonstrate that Reading Academy WORKS, because we promote to the 1st team, that is going to give us some really big plus points in the considerations that parents and their kids go through when making their decisions.
