kwik-silva I'd like to see Kuhl, it'd be a miracle if we got anything from Wigan anyway so nothing to lose.

We have next to no chance in getting anything away against Wigan whether we play Kuhl or Akpan, and for that reason I would play Akpan.

Maybe Akpan is approaching this new season with a bit of confidence, and the determination to perform better than last season.
And you want to snub him in the very first game for a player 4 and a half years his junior who's never played a competitive game of football?

I'm seriously no great fan of Akpan, but overlooking him in CM for a CB and an 18 year old in the very first game will truly set the scene for another disappointing season for our Hope.
Give him at least one chance ffs.

No reason at all to chuck Kuhl in at the deep end at the DW. Let him get his full Reading debut at home against L2 opposition on Tuesday night in the cup.
If Akpan is shite against Wigan and Kuhl shines against Newport then there'll be a decision to make for Ipswich (H), a game that is actually winnable.

I like it

Akpan and hector in the middle with Morrison and Pearce in defence, then following the inevitable humiliation we can move hector to cb and bring in kuhl without anyone grumbling too much.

No, I'd play a flatter 5 man midfield with Hec/Akpan/Kuhl in the middle

Hopefully Guthrie can at least make the bench. Need him back soon as possible. Hope to see full debuts at Newport for Kuhl, Tshibola, and Tanner. Maybe Stacey off the bench.

One of my main concerns(and granted there is many), is that theres not enough width, Obita is our only winger and he's our best left back currently.

Saturday's starting line-up of: McCarthy; Gunter, Obita, Pearce, Morrison; Hector, Akpan, Edwards, Blackman, Taylor; Pogrebnyak.....

has 'relegation' written all over it, 100%.

That really isn't a good team. We could easily be in the bottom 3 by October if players don't return from injury or signings aren't made.

With regards to the Akpan debate - I kind of agree with comments about him being given a chance. He seems to have the right attitude at least. Though I'm rapidly losing hope (no pun intended) that he has the quality to back it up.

Not given a chance? He played 30 games for us last season. How long do we need to give him a chance for?

Surprised many of you pick Akpan. He's hopeless.

I like the look of that. I reckon we can get something up there with that.

.................McCarthy
..Gunter, Pearce, Hector, Obita
............Karacan, Williams
McCleary........Cox.............Mackie
...............Pogrenbnyak.

Sus: Federici, Kelly, Morrison, Guthrie, Blackman, Robson-Kanu, Tshibola

Assuming we complete the signings and we can get the squad fit... that's pretty awesome at this level.

I'm assuming that's your ideal line-up Ian, seeing as most of that squad is crocked.

What a team 3 players injured and a player that hasn´t signed yet, this team would lose about 10-0.
