JIM Re reading rumours. we have 3 new signings by the end of the week . A start if true.

Yeah, right. Taken 400 pages to get near the end of having new owners despite promises in the media every week since May that Samrit was flying in to seal the deal.

Suggest you forget this window and hope that we still are in a position in the league to attract worthwhile players to the club in January.

Then again always nice to have a hope even if it doesn't happen...

Reading: Sir John Madejski happy with prospective new owners

Reading chairman Sir John Madejski believes he has found the right people to take over the Championship club.

Last week the Royals announced a "partnership" with a Thai consortium led by 76-year-old businesswoman Khunying Sasima Srivikorn.

The formalities of the deal are still to be completed but Madejski said he was delighted to welcome the group.

"I have great hopes and as far as I am concerned this is the best we can do by a mile," Madejski told BBC South Today.

Reading have been trying to find a buyer since last October and majority shareholder Anton Zingarevich stood down from the board in June.

Madejski is sure the new 'partners', who will own a majority share in the Berkshire club, will prove to be more loyal owners and will be around for longer than the Russian - who bought 51% of Reading in May 2012.

"This has rolled on for a very long time since the Zingarevich family decided to up stumps and move away," he added. "We've had a tedious year but we have finally now found some very nice people to take over.

Madejski is convinced Reading can move forward - "Last time, I was so beguiled by the credentials of his billionaire status and the fact Anton went to school nearby it seemed like it was too good to be true and sadly it was. This time it was more measured."

Madejski described Khunying Sasima as a "charming lady", adding: "She has an unblemished business career behind her.

"She was educated in this country and also went to Harvard Business School. I'm delighted that her and her consortium are finally giving Reading some stability.
"It has been very hairy for the past year since the Russians departed and (I'm delighted) that we have such sweet people coming in to take over the club."

Madejski says the new shareholders have "extremely deep pockets" and hopes if the deal goes through soon they will be able to sign new players ahead of the transfer deadline.
"They are ambitious," he said. "I'm sure before the start of this season we will see some changes."

He also said something lie 'they have bought into the Reading way we have seen here except for in the last administration' - alluding to Drenthe/Pog signings and wages destroying that..

Not sure what fans expect. Administration, -10 points and a complete fire sale almost guaranteeing relegation was the alternative. Yes, from what I have heard SJM's ego has perhaps got in the way of other buyers being successful, but we have nothing to say he has chosen the wrong people/those who are not the best people and they had to accept one offer or disaster would strike as per above.

To avoid going there, clearly it's not all that good.

SPARTA "... (I'm delighted) that we have such sweet people coming in to take over the club."

You know what, I don't oxf*rd want "sweet people" any longer.

No more "Mr Nice Guy." No more "the Reading way."

I want hard-nosed, unsentimental competitors. I want winners. I want people who want it.

That doesn't mean that we can't be prudent and "cut our cloth" accordingly. It means that we need to get a little bit nasty.

It simple, really. As much as I love footy in the old Div 3 and Div 4 - and that's great fun and was thoroughly enjoyable for 35 years of my life - if we have any pretension to compete, then we need to just be more *shudder* professional.
