Mackie could be a decent foil for Pog. Do all the donkey work and let Pog get on with scoring. Hopefully.

Always liked Jamie Mackie as a player tbf so I'm not beefing at this one.

Simon Cox, not so sure.

So Forest are happy to let Mackie go but are reportedly set to spend £1.5M on Antonio.

Am I right in thinking that Antonio actually has a much better scoring rate than Mackie?

They're pretty much scoring at the same rate in the Championship.

Completely different players, and Mackie doesn't turn up to training drunk, afaik.

Given the amount of times Antonio tripped over the ball when he was here I wouldn't be surprised if he turns up to matches drunk.

Always thought that Mackie was a bit of a hard-working plodder tbh. But again, he's be an improvement on current dire options HRK and Blackman.

You might want to tone down your optimism there Floyd, I'm not sure it really suits you.

If we can have 5 players or so reaching 10 goals in a season then the need for a 20 goal a season striker isn't quite so pressing.

Seems people rate Mackie which is encouraging, however I have never seen him play so can't make any judgement on his playing ability.

My only concern would be why Forrest are prepared to loan out a player they signed for £1million only a year ago?

That was my thought too. If this wasn't a loan signing and my expectations for this coming season were higher, i'm not sure i'd be so pleased with it, tbh.

Up to the end of last season, in 18 months at the club, the owners bought 21 players and brought another 14 in on loan. Add to that, they've signed Chris Burke, Matty Fryatt and Lars Veldwijk in this window.

Some players don't make it at some clubs. That's just the way it is.

Especially when the owners buy the best part of a new team each season.

Well happy to be proved wrong, just a fairly obvious doubt many would have.
