melonheadtidus_mi2 it would be a miracle to go up this season, no new signings as of yet, even with ones coming in soon they won't have had time to integrate with the team and could face a slow start, even strengthening in January probably won't be enough.!
cheer up sadsack

Pseud O'Nym So would you agree that Neil Innes was actually the most talented of the Bonzos? Although Stanshall was undoubtedly the more famous, Innes' oeuvre was much more diverse I feel.

RoyalBlue Even if we sign Mackie and Cox, Pog will remain by far and away the best striker we have on our books

DaveBanana It also emphasises how shite the Russians were, given this is only rumoured to have been circa 600k...

RoyalBlueRoyal Rother I would have thought someone would pay £2-3m for Pog.
If we let him go on a free, even though a new club may not match his current wages, I'd have thought that a Golden Hello of £2-3m would mean he covers whatever wage shortfall he might have over the period of a contract.
Nobody likes selling an asset for nothing but if we really want to get him off the payroll then I'm sure it could be done. He has no value on the Balance Sheet as nothing was paid for him, so it wouldn't have any real or cosmetic impact in the short term, but it would reduce the overhead.
Just a thought. Same applies with Drenthe I suppose.
Even if we sign Mackie and Cox, Pog will remain by far and away the best striker we have on our books - foolish to let him go unless we have signed someone significantly better than him.

SPARTA Few rumours this man could be the 4th investor.
Peter Lim Eng Hock is a Singapore businessman and investor. In July 2010, Forbes magazine rated eighth amongst Singapore's 40 richest people with an estimated net worth of $2.5 billion. Wikipedia

Has been floated before so maybe some legs on that. It was only in May that he bought Valencia though for squillions.

IIRC, clubs are not allowed to list players as assets (or liability!) on the balance sheets anymore as people can not be owned, however like staff working for any company they can be an intangible asset.... so while a club may make a £20m loss one season and have £20m less cash assets at the bank as a result, the accounts don't show that they now have £20m worth of players on the books.
