LoyalRoyal22 Seeing as the take over doesn't really seem legit, forgetting the boring/shit signings we have made, i would be really happy with Norwood and Murray. Just hope they work on extending contracts once the window has closed.

Major agreed.

Pepe the Horseman #Readingfc had two other targets, but one is set to join Premier League club and the other a top team in Europe apparently

At least we were going for realistic targets then...

Anyone else getting a touch of déjà vu?

It's the Reading Way

Feed the fans bullshkt then let them down

Come on Reading prove me wrong

It's the Reading Fans way; read promises into every non-committal statement and create unrealistic expectations out of nothing, then complain before the promises they've imagined aren't kept.

Judging from past years I will be surprised if we sign anyone. I am sure we would also let Pog and Drenthe and possibly Guthrie go if there are any takers - but that is very unlikely.

I am not sure I am that bothered. As far as I can see this season is already a write off. There is zero chance of this squad achieving more than survival and so why waste money now. Better to see how the young players get on this season and provided we survive (or even if we go down) we can add to fill the gaps next summer...if indeed the new owners are in place by then and actually have any money.

Normally I'd be with you on this, but this time Adkins was explicit in that he was looking to bring in "several faces", or "looking to strengthen every position", or some such variation of those (maybe even both). Also said that he'd be in the office late... None of those are promises, but I think people are pretty vindicated in having certain expectations.

And yet they'll treat them as promises, expecting three or four big deals and then whine like they've been lied to if it doesn't come off, or the players don't meet their expectations.

And if Adkins said nothing they'd complain too.

I'm not treating them as promises, but I will feel accordingly let down if we don't achieve our stated objectives. I won't bitch and whine about it because it's a very difficult business, but they will not have done the best job of managing expectations.

I'm glad they've come out and stated their intentions, but you have to be confident of following up on those to a reasonable degree, or you're inviting foot-stamping and wailing.

Don't really care what Adkins, Hammond or Watts have to say on signings.

We need to sign a decent striker, for less than a ridiculous fee.
We don't = bad.
We do = good.

It really is that simple.

The 1 going out may actually be Pog and not Obita!

I have been told by a friend who works with the U18's at West Ham that they are "very interested" in either a loan deal or permanent transfer as they see Pog as an ideal replacement/partner for Carrol.

Those coming in could well include Swindon midfielder Massimo Luongo, apparently we have made an offer and awaiting a response.

So assume that was Falcoe and Hernandez......letting those players slip through our fingers again...Adkins Out!

Ok so we're selling a striker, a position that we need to improve on, and buying another central midfielder without replacing the striker we're selling. I believe you, you're obviously itk

I think Adkins missed a trick by not caveating his statement "But as we all know nothing is guaranteed and all transfers have twists and turns" (just look at the Stefan Scepovic transfer at Celtic)

Only that can't really be said of the last two windows can it. Madejski's commitments last December were pretty explicit - he even repeated them when Dellor sought clarity. This window Adkins was pretty explicit about expecting to be very busy and several signings. Having been bitten more than once before, I very much doubt he said that without having received pretty positive messages from Madejski, the owners & Hammond.

So probably better and more sensible to tell us at the outset that nothing was likely to happen and have us complaining then, than mislead and face an even greater level of discontent. What's more, if we then did end up signing someone, that would be a big positive for the club and supporters.

Reading FC seem pretty naive when it comes to managing expectations.

Curently in Belgium with Aussie squad preparing for their friendly on Thursday so no chance of a last minute medical.

It's clear that we'll probably get nobody and then the next hook, line and sinker we get is 'We'll definitely be in the loan market for a signing or two'
