Look likely to sign Falcao on loan.

lol thats gonna fill you with confidence at your new club, isn't it

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he would not have signed striker Danny Welbeck on transfer deadline day had he been in the country.

The 23-year-old left boyhood club Manchester United in a £16m switch to the Gunners while Wenger was away in Rome for a charity game.

Wenger said: "If I'd stayed at home he wouldn't be here now."

might just have been that Wenger knew he was going to be out the country so had to get the wheels turning earlier

I don't really understand that. I mean what impact would him being out of the country have on getting a deal done? Maybe I'm being a bit slow here but why would a deal NOT have been done if he had been in the UK?

I've just heard him on the radio saying that he had thought he'd be getting Welbeck on a loan arrangement with an option to buy but after it was made clear that Man Utd needed to offload him that he had no hesitation in signing him on a permanent basis.

Maybe he would have been inundated with calls from other clubs looking to sell him English players at massively inflated prices, because they're English?

Or he left it to someone else to sort it out and they purchased him rather than loaning him - which Wenger didn't want to do

Not what he indicated in the interview clip I heard.

Isn't it just a case of the headline massively exaggerating what was said?

I'm not really sure what Wenger was trying to imply from the little quote I read though.

Wenger met The Pope on Deadline Day.

If indeed he did say Arsenal wouldn't have signed Welbeck if he had been in the UK maybe he was implying that it was divine intervention....

I can't believe how bad Ozil is.

Arsenal are being way to intricate, trying deft lay offs that aren't on etc, they really need to simplify their game

Agreed. But they are playing some nice stuff and are more aggressive and in City's faces than they usually are against Top 5 teams which I suppose is some kind of progress.

But I say again, how atrocious is Ozil?

All the runners are being marked out by Man City, not a lot else he can do in that instance he's not a dribbler.

Would be a different game if City where behind or it was still a draw.

Anyway, that's that game for me off to the Madejski

Looking good tonight. Although Galatasaray aren't much kop outside of Turkey. First CL hattrick for Welbeck.

The manner of Arsenal's victory was most likely down to PROFLandeLOLLOLi's tactics. Nice move going 3 at the back and sitting an attacking midfielder just in front of the defence.

Nice finishes by DW I will say

Good for England that Wellbeck was able to move to a club where he could get Champions League experience.

Those that commented on Arsenals game last night, are they your 'other' team?
