I love England, love 'em, but I don't really like the current bunch at all. Cahill, Wellbeck and the manager are my favourites. Jagielka too I suppose.

LUX Penalty 2-0

Would you say England have this one sewn up yet, or are you still on the edge of your seat, chewing nails nervously?

WTF is Milner trying to play as a holding midfielder for?

Starting to think Diego Costa gets his twin brother to play for Spain.

Really? The "Golden Generation" was filled to the brim with utter twats. This latest lot don't really seem as offensive for some reason. Apart from Sterling, who looks, behaves and probably even breathes like an utter mincing c unt.

I think a veil should be drawn over that particular experiment

True enough.

Neutral on Sterling tbh.

Commentator in Spain game re Costa "You can almost hear the Chelsea fans at home screaming at their televisions get him off"

Watching his performance so far tonight quite a few Spain fans will be shouting the same thing.

Rooney trying to pretend he's world class against San Marino. Still keeps getting it embarrassingly wrong.

2-1 Slovakia

That's what you get for putting Santi Cazorla on at Right Back Senor Del Bosque.

Difficult to really judge any individual performance when it was just 90 minutes of defence v attack. Not a coincidence that the central midfielders were all 'poor'. No space on the wings or behind the defence at all.

I thought Rooney was poor again, two golden chances that he embarrassingly fluffed and other shots just blasted straight at the keeper. Did their keeper have to make a save where he had to move? The only one I can recall was the half header from the Ox.

Chambers was poor all game, Milner was utter shit first half playing DM but looked a lot better second half.

Maybe I expect too much but at this level you need to take your chances regardless of the opposition, we can't be missing that amount in the next game.

Ray Lewington last night on the touchline "Work the ball son, work the ball". It's good this tactical master stroke phrase has worked it's way from dickheads on the touchline of a Sunday morning, all the way up to the national team.

totally agree re Rooney
he seems off the pace generally and very slow to think and react compared with say Lallana
I like the look of a lot of the younger players and I think there is a good team in their somewheere - just not sure it includes Rooney

For years of following a lower league club team, England always held a bit of glamour for me and I always followed them passionately. Then when we had our few moments in the sun in the PL, I just saw the England players as the opposition and consequently couldn't take to them.

Now that we are unfortunately headlining toward our true level in the football league, I am starting to get a bit of a buzz about Ingerland again. Just a shame that as a national team, we are looking decidedly "lower league" ourselves.

Last night we were sloppy and the San Marino keeper made a few really good stops, we really should be beating them by more than that if we wanna be anywhere near the best again.

Don't agree, we were always going to beat them - the players just wanted to avoid injury and save themselves for Sundays game. Only the fans want to see a double figure win, the players just want to get through it without any knocks
