Was he pressed on Keane-gate at all

The lack of money really isn't a surprise, think it should be well known by now that the Russian gentleman concerned had nothing more than what was available up front meaning Brian had a hard time getting anything more in other that Championship level players

Always easy with hindsight, but what appeared to be then a great opportunity has set the club back 3 years or so

Let's hope there's not another hindsight observation to make in a couple of years....

How come no one is saying anything?

Is it etiquette to keep it under wraps or something?

We did bid for Gylfi - can tell you that - McD really really wanted him and Shane back

^ directly contradicts the risible comments of AZ in the Press Conference which greeted Adkins appointment where he openly said that substabntial funds were available and not spent.

Who shall we believe: one of our most successful managers who always seemed to appreciate the fans or the shady former owner of the club who left us in financial turmoil?

hobnob McDermott half-joked that the "Reading Way" is simply to sell your best players.

.....whilst achieving fifth and first place finishes in consecutive seasons which is already superior to your successor's efforts.

I can't reveal my source but I spoke to someone about this today and he said "there were a lot of proper weirdos in attendance".

Where do all these people come from who you never see at games yet apparently go to every one and own a full set of fleeces going back to 2004?

Your source was pretty spot on - I recognised 3 people there - the rest must have been West Standers!

I'm sorry but doesn't that directly contradict the claim that McDermott didn't have much money available to spend on players?

Yep, makes my blood boil just reading some of that

No money, and normally out classed in the top flight, yet we still managed to defend better than we do under Bodgekins in the 2nd Tier :|

He laughed through the whole description of the Gylfi business though. The insinuation was the bids were never going to be accepted - I guess massively under his value at the time.

That was the season we went up - the season in prem he had a paltry sum to spend

Not really. Just means that we (Zingarevich) were more desperate with the prospect of relegation looming and tried to spend silly money that we didn't have.

Oh was it? Well he said he knew we'd never get him so prob as many of us predicted at the time, it was so SJM could say we'd tried to sign players - but you don't get much for a cornflake and some belly button fluff tbf

Brian's clearly a nice guy but he strikes me as a massive wimp.

It wasn't really a case of: do we believe AZ or McD? because Brian didn't actually say anything to believe.
Nor did he say anything when he was given a paltry transfer budget.
Nor did he say anything when AZ/JM went on the wind-up with the below-par Gylfi bid.
Nor did he say anything when Cellino first sacked him and he went crawling back.

He'll only give an opinion in front of a small audience, months later, on the condition that nobody reports what he's said.

Brian previously revealed that when he first met Anton he told him: "If you want to find yourself a new manager, no problem."
Have a bit of backbone ffs!

I wish him well on his return to scouting. That's probably what he's most suited to.
