Nice long post but not agreeing at all.

If we were getting results, people would be happy and take that.

If we weren't, but you could see progress and a development, people would take that too.

The style has changed, but it's all foreplay and no penetration. It's slow, boring, and the crowd don't like it either.

63% possession first half against Cardiff, 2-0 down. More shots, crosses, possession against Charlton, lose 1-0. But it's not meaningful possession. It's not exciting.

Nigel Adkins over the last year has managed to wean away my passion for "Reading Football Clob" (as he likes saying). The sooner he is out, the better.

2 world wars, 1 world cup Away from HNA for a while as whilst most of you are alright, there's a big enough minority of bellends and apologists (not mutually exclusive) to ruin a great site.

After hearing the radio last night I was shocked that the general vibe was that Adkins' days are numbered.

I'm a little confused.

Adkins, who with the right financial backing won back to back promotions taking a league 1 club to the Premier League didn't want to join Reading because he could see past the apologists BS and knew the blatantly obvious truth that there have been troubles with backing for YEARS at the club, with a chairman in financial decline wishing to sell, a buyer who wasn't living up to his promises and great uncertainty, leading to year after year of selling our best, not investing enough and utterly failing to take advantage of any foothold in the PL.... So he rightly said NO.

But somehow the geniuses that are Sir John and Hammond and merry band of club apologists managed to Mikhailov him into coming here (for the new, that is 2ww speak for blatantly lying to someone to get them to join you only for the bleak truth to dawn on them when they're already here). He didn't want to come, we forced him with promises of decent investment. Oh, most people have forgotten that little fact. Ok.

Now he's here things went from awful to much much MUCH worse, in fact so bad that even the doom mangers didn't see it coming... with our best goal scorer, best defender, best keeper (or the leagues best keeper I should say) being stripped from him,.. Promises of finance for new signings not materialising, and him having to rebuild a mediocre team with transfer scraps, loans, and kids from the academy... Such that we still have no central defender cover and STILL NO F**KING LEFT BACK.

And we bizarrely have a bunch of fans who in their unfathomable delusion think that we should be anywhere near good enough to challenge for promotion with the sh*t that is going on in this huge transitionary period.

and some fans think that we're doing badly in the mayhem of a TOTAL cockup at ownership level, one of the biggest and messiest periods of transitions in the club's history for not being in a playoff spot. And they're blaming Adkins!?????

I mean, is there even a word for this level of extreme f**king stupidity??

Yes the transitionary troubles shouldn't stop him doing his job with the players he has, and yes the players he has aren't awful (but it doesn't make a full team... There's no point having a Ferrari without a gearbox for example! N point having a team of good players without a decent centre back and without ANY left back), and yes he makes bizarre tactical decisions and yes the football is frustrating to watch and yes our record is awful... and yes he is irritatingly overpositive and yes his interviews send me to sleep with his drivel and yes he doesn't know his best team etc etc etc

But the current problems are FAR deeper than just Adkins.

There are two possibilities here: either the new owners will come good with decent investments and ambition, or they won't.

If they do, then we want a manager who is proven at building (with the right funding) a team that can walk into the PL. Adkins has proven that already and is the best man for the job and we have to look past the shit were going through and stick with him for when the funding eventually comes.

If they don't, and they emulate the shit that Sir John has been serving up in the last few years, or worse, then our problems are far deeper than what manager we have and we may as well not bother caring too much wtf happens. Bring Kingsley in. Bring Dellor in, for all I care. Or gamble on someone who'll end up like McDermott who will give us a flash in the pan visit to the PL but which won't be sustainable... Nah f*** it, just stick with Adkins. Don't care. Not important.

Absolutely 100% spot on. The total lack of experience cover in central defence and the absence of a specialist left back says it all.

However, there is a solution. Ady Williams is great pals with Madejski and from the way he was going on last night thinks it's all extremely simple to fix ( mind you he's never been known as one of the sharpest knives in the drawer). So let's ditch Adkins and bring in Ady and his two pals Geordie (disappointed in him, I thought he would have known better, particularly having had experience of working with Madejski) and Dellor.

SPARTA Bring McDermott back? No thank you! His dated tactics were leading us to an 8th-10th place finish until AZ threw some money at getting Roberts and a couple of others. Without that we would never have achieved the shock promotion we did. He was unable to adapt in the PL despite telling us weekly he was learning so much.

Those were the days; winning the Championship, playoff final, regular FA Cup quarter-final appearances and all on a fraction of the budget and talent McDermott had at his disposal compared to Adkins.

SPARTA Sad really that I don't care either way any longer. My love for the game has been on the slide since 08, and this summer it finally reached my own club. I don't like the game any more, don't like the money in it and all the corruption/shenanigans going on being the scenes at clubs. AZ did a number on us, SJM has all but stepped aside now (a real link between fans and club), and now we have new owners again who we don't know much about. I just can't connect to the club any more and one game at the start of the season was more than enough for me and sadly may well be for a very long time.

Sums up how I feel perfectly.

Took the young uns to watch AFC Wimbledon v Daggers last weekend and it was great to see a club owned by its fans and how it was run. Pre-match the supporters club reps were coming down each row in the ground (it's only 8 rows high) welcoming each group of fans and surveying them on customer satisfaction and ticket prices, no less! The friendly fans we met there were all very proud to feel part of something unique. I was hugely impressed, despite the relatively dull 1-0 match (and Curo starting on the bench  )

Looking forward to Henley Town who are back in action today after the international break

People need to stop this "Adkins has had no money" BS.

In just about a month he brought in Norwood, Cox, Murray, Ferdinand and Mackie. I'd say that's a pretty clear indicator that money is there to spend.

In comparison we let ALF, Morro and McCarthy leave. Nobody was outraged or upset to see them go, infact for the first two we all spoke about it being daylight robbery. Equally we let people like McAnuff, Leigertwood, Gorkss go on a free. They're either at a lower level or not playing at all.

This squad ain't weaker than it was last year, and yet we are regressing with every game. Something has to change and Nigel has made it pretty clear over the last year and a half that it won't be his style of football.

Sorry 2WW1WC, but you're talking rubbish. Adkins is underperforming massively, and has been since the day he arrived. Think back to McDermott and Coppell - they had to sell their best players every season and were left with a small proportion of the money and talent Adkins has at his disposal, yet they never complained and got on with it in a no nonsense fashion. Even when Brian was sacked we were still in with a slight chance of staying up despite the ownership chaos. He recieved less financial backing in the Championship and PL combined than Adkins has in this season alone!

Exactly this - for McDermott to get us where we did and achieve the results we did with so little money was a fantastic achievement rather than a flash in the pan. The players also had a "never give up attitude" and seemed to genuinely get in well with McD as did the Coppell with his team. To me, players seem disinterested, lacking any fight or passion and there seems to be no camaraderie with Adkins. I've never felt as disinterested either. We could have 100% possession in a game but if we don't take chances etc - what's the flaming point.

You'll be joining the non league scene soon enough. Windsor's less than 20 miles up the road - I'll look out for you.

I supported his appointment but now I think he isn't capable of getting this team to win games they should be winning.

Sorry Nige and thanks for trying.

Spot on. The only way we can improve the utter shambles on the pitch is to spend at least 10M pounds. Probably 30M.

This squad is div 2 at best and we just can't compete with footballing leviathans such as Brentford, Watford, Bournemouth or Charlton.

Adkins is ruining the club, isn't he? Driving supporters away, same old tired excuses, the players have individually got worse over the last two years.

Is it any wonder?

He overcomplicates everything.
His constant spin on words has completely destroyed any credibility he had.
He is stubborn in terms of his tactics & philosophy.

When I am faced with this kind of arrogant, top-down autocracy at work I don't perform well either, so I am hardly surprised our players are not performing.
