Have you ever been injured spectating at a match?

Following the story about the Scotland fan tragically falling to his death at Celtic Park last week - have you ever sustained an injury at a football match?

A lot of views but few comments.

Strange there are no Torquay wall collapse veterans on the board. And odd that not one person here was at pre season friendly at Aldershot when they threw rocks onto the away terrace. Weird that no one had their ribs broken in a crowd surge on the southbank.

I was at that game......it was quite eventful. No injuries on my behalf though.

What happened to the bloke who broke his arm when Bristol City's Gerard Lavin belted the ball at him in 1999?

A tad embarrasing, but when Jimmy Quinn scored our second against Bournemouth to ensure promotion in 1994, we invaded the pitch and as I was running towards the tunnel, I tripped and as I fell, I saw this young p ersons heel coming straight for my nose. Crack!

Stacked it on the terraces at York Rd in a pre season friendly vs Slough this year. Gashed my knee and my shoulder and the 'scar' on my shoulder looks like it's here to stay.

In fairness the Maidenhead beer festival was on and this happened about 4 hours after the game finished but still technically counts

I once tried to sit in the seat at Kenilworth Road, that did my knees in. Does that count?

Similarly I strained my neck sitting in a shit seat at facing the wrong way at Loftus Road.

Was part of the group that fell over the wall at Torquay. Had a cut on my shin afterwards but didn't sue.

I cut my arm on a bollard, after I tripped running back to the car from Loftus Road. Still got the scar.

I was at Torquay as well but at the back of the stand. I thought it was only Winch who got injured on that day?

I didn't complain about it, I just got up cheered and went back to where I was stood.

AFC Bournemouth v Reading, 10 April 2001

Martin Butler scores to make it 2:1 after just 9 minutes. Jump up and down like you do, missed the terracing step, knee buckles underneath me, hit the deck. Absolute agony and tears. Can see the knee doubling in size through my jeans. End result - ruptured my anterior cruciate ligament and torn cartilage.

Not exactly while spectating at a match, but a mate broke both arms walking from the car to the JJB for the play-off semi-final first leg all those years ago. Seemingly he tripped over a bollard and put both arms out to break his fall - unfortunately the only things broken were his arms. None of the rest of us even saw what happened, so we didn't understand what he was complaining about & we weren't very sympathetic to his pathetic whimpering. Driving home after he couldn't even open the car door. It was only the next day we found out he'd got home, been taken to hospital & found that he genuinely had something to complain about. Our lack of sympathy looked pretty sh#tty then

Likewise.

Otherwise, nearest I've come to a spectating injury is standing about a yard ahead of a mate on the second tee at Downshire GC in Bracknell, for him to achieve a slice of quite mental angle straight into my knee. Nothing broken though.
