These days I only dip in and out of threads, but I have to say that this is the most cheerful and heartening. Well done posters. Keep it up. There is hope for RFC yet.

Really good win that, and against a Villa side that despite their first team problems do have an excellent academy system.

Wonder if, now some of our first teamers are coming back and with January fast approaching, we'll see the likes of Kelly/Stacey etc get the chance to make their mark at a League 1/2 club.

And my post was in response to the previous posts discussing how much game time he'd get

icelandboy Tanner is expected to be out for rest of the season after knee surgery

He's playing tonight...

Only on the bench though imagine he'll come on at some point.
Almost full-time and stunning scoreline, 5-1 away to Villa! Samuel hat-trick, another Fosu free-kick (this time deflected), and Stacey.

:|

Plus some people might be interested in one of our best prospects getting some game time after over 3 months out injured..

The U21s win 5-1 away and all Mambo3 can do is try and pick a stupid fight with a pointless and irrelevant comment. Good to hear Tanner is on his way back, never good when the youngsters have injury problems and here's hoping he's back to his best soon and avoids further injuries.

Not sure why winch feels the need to use the :| for my post.
Zac seemed to imply with his post that he was starting tonight. Of course i'm pleased to see him back, i'm a big fan of his. He's the most exciting thing about the U21s and I thought he was capable of becoming a first team regular this season barring injury up until we signed Cox and Mackie. The injury came at a bad time as not sure where he fits in now.

On another note, that's our biggest away win since the U21 competition started 2 and a bit years ago isn't it?

I don't see our U21s going out on loan unless maybe we've been knocked out of the cup. It seemed to be a change of policy last season where we preferred to develop them from within rather than send them out somewhere where they would be subject to different methods.

That said, Kelly perhaps could do with some games on loan somewhere as i'm guessing he is the most likely player to lose his place once Tanner comes back into the starting line-up, so he's going to struggle to get games.

My apologies KC, the :| wasn't directed at you it was in response to Mambo's suggestion that I'm obsessed with Tanner and I was merely showing that my original post was partly in response to a previous discussion about how much game time he might get and that it was good to see him back.

Agreed re his first team prospects now though, and think he is one who'd definitely benefit from a few games out on loan. A lot of our younger guys haven't seen much/any consistent first team football, and think that shows occassionally in their (lack of) presence when on the pitch. They don't lack the talent, but physically/mentally they need to get used to men's football imo.

I have said this before but I feel very confident for the future with our batch of young players coming through.

The prospect of a first team in two years of:

Henly.
Long.Hector.Cooper.Owusu.
Kuhl.Tshibola.
Stacey.Tanner.Fosu.
Cardwell.

Is extremely exciting... even if its in League One. Our defence looks exceptionally strong in terms of young talent for the next few years.

Going forward a bit less so. But still good options.

Agreed, he deserves a chance.

Sounds like his attitude is holding him back.
