Shame it never worked out. Plenty of respect for Adkins and seems like he had a pretty shite hand dealt to him, but nevertheless he hasn't done anything near a 'good' job. I'd have kept him but I'm not heartbroken he's gone. Dolan in.

No crowing here. Sad day when we're in such a sh*t-state. If the next appointment is a bad one then the Thais can f*ck off too, to be frank.

P!ssed Off I reckon if Madejski and Hammond are picking it will be Dolan.
If it's up to the Thais, then who knows...

It's got to be Dolan interim for sure. We'll probably not know about a new manager other than that for at least a couple of weeks, more like three or four.

I guess it depends how much we have in the scope of signings. If we can do business we'll want a permanent appointment pronto. If not, the candidate pool is going to be seriously reduced and we might as well stick with Dolan for a month to see how he does (assuming he's vaguely interested).

Shame, in many ways. He somehow did amazingly with Southampton, their play was good, quick and smooth, but it just didn't stick, here. Like Rodgers, another good manager fails to make an impact at Reading. I suspect he'll move to someone just below us in the league and end up in Europe in 5 years time.

Then again, perhaps now our players can go back to normal training sessions where they're not constantly being injured without any apparent event causing it. I hope whoever does take the job is someone who will ask the players to move about, off the ball and actually play football, rather than just keeping the ball for as long as possible, so we don't concede early. Also kinda glad that no longer will I turn on my radio after a crushing defeat to hear "I thought we started brightly, kept control of the football, then they got the goal....goals change games, etc".

That was prior to losing 6-1 to a team below us in the league.

I`m sure Nigel will be a success at another club, you don`t become a bad manager over night, it just didn`t work for him here

So similar to the rogers reign and sacking.

I look forward to Dolan taking us up next season!

Worried SJM may believe a return for macdermott is what we want though
Would be a backward step for me

+1

I'd feel really conflicted about it. I'd want to get behind him, as with virtually any new manager. He did a great job for us in the past, but I still think he cocked up in the PL and I'm not impressed with some of the things he's reportedly said since. I still have very fond feelings for his time here and he's earned a place in the top three Reading Managers so far... but he could easily really taint what's gone before and I'd hate that.

I feel he could quickly become a divisive appointment and that is the very last thing we need.

So you think he was sacked because of one result?

Results on the pitch aside, you have to feel sorry for the guy. I know that some people felt he just gave everyone soundbites, but when you consider the chaos that's been going on around him and the fact that he's the only person to front up to the media and the fans about any of it, he's been hung out to dry.

That said, it was time for a change. Pity it didn't work, we're not the right club for him.

Chance for us to wrestle some identity back now, I hope we take it.

Whether we all agree with this decision or not, the choice of the next manager wil revolve around who would be prepared to come into this mess of a club, we were told that when SJM sold it would be to someone with deep pockets, well we have tried that twice now, with what looks like failure both times.

A huge amount of blame must lie at the feet of Zingarevich who spent the money then cut and run, and our new secret society of Thai owners seem to offer very little in the way of what direction they see us going, which is down quickley at this time.

As for a replacement it would point to Dolan, if for no other reason he wil be cheap to appoint, cheap a remark that can be laid against a lot that has gone on at the Mad Stad since our short association with that damn Russian, for what it's worth Coppell would be my short term choice or Steve Clarke, as far as Tony Pulis goes, why would he want to damage his glowing reputation by walking into this total shambles.

On another point I wonder if we wil hear aything from the owners or SJM over just what the hel is going on at our club although that would appear to be massively unlikely.

seanboyd_2 This is a MASSIVE mistake, the board have just relegated this club, should have waited until the end of this season.

Only hope is to get a new manager in now and give him HUGE financial backing in January if they don't do this then we will be going down.

Lol wut?

He'd lost the dressing room & we were getting worse. If anything, they've saved the club from getting involved in a relegation fight. Couldn't disagree more with your post.
