Have the club done the right thing to sack Nigel today?

Adkins: The right decision?

by sandman » 15 Dec 2014 18:52

Personally I think they have, just wasn't working for Nige and was unlikely to improve anytime soon.

Yes.

I supported Nigels aims, but it just was not working and without extensive funds he wouldn't get it never would.

Not an unjustified decision. Time will tell if its a good one (partly depending on how we do over the next 6 months, but mainly due to whether there's actually a strategy behind the sacking rather than a kneejerk at a scoreline).

Yeah who will ever forget that scintillating football we played at times under Adkins. Great times.

I guess we're just left with our memories:

I don't think anyone can have any complaints over this decision.

True dat....

Can anyone name a full 90 where we played a team off the park in any of Adkins' 80 matches?

If you can, then you're a fcuking liar.

Don't agree on that Woodley. Not once under his tenure have I come away thinking "Wow we were a bit special today". Not once. Bolton were crap & every shot we hit went in.

To give him some credit, the only ones that came close was one half v Watford & then half of the game v Burnley on the final day last season.

Seemed a decent enough bloke in an industry full of uttercnuts.

Had an admirable philosophy and will almost certainly go on to manage at a higher level than us again, a la Brendan.

He was just the wrong fit for the club.

Good luck Nige, but it was the right decision at the right time.

Agree.

Really rated him a couple of years ago.

He has let us down, but possibly more so, Reading PLC FC have let him down.

Think the guy has remained pretty loyal to his employers (possibly too loyal) over the past twenty months.

Some have now got what they wanted, NA wont be out of work for long....and lets hope that the heart doesn't rule the head in the replacements' decision making process

Much as Saturday wasn't indicative of Birmingham's star quality.

Precisely. The guy has failed massively. It has been like Bodgers v 2.0.....except worse.

At least it now ends the debate on the type of manager that fits the Reading culture. We've now tried 2 supposed philosophers or alleged master tacticians of the beautiful passing game   .................... and they were both shit.

Rodgers stock is falling rapidly & he is being found out.

Agree with this and reckon he will get a far better club than us and will not be recruited on the back of false promises.

I liked the guy and really wished it had worked out but you just couldn't see things changing. I wish him all the best.
