No, we thought Adkins had been sacked but it was only a wind up.

Yeah, as I've said I am not crowing about anything now he has been sacked, I wanted him as manager and on paper it was a good appointment.

However, I did start saying about a year ago that he wasn't going to be successful here.

I lost faith with Adkins far quicker than I did with McD....

At the time, I thought McD's sacking was the right thing. Now I absolutely believe I was wrong

Mind you, the club did throw McD under the bus. Had they come out & said "Give the guy a break, we've spent the square root of fcuk all & they're doing their best", I do think that would have appeased a large section of the fanbase & he would have lasted the season.

Instead we were hoodwinked by TSI into thinking he wasn't being active in the transfer market & that he was doing badly but ultimately they were a bunch of half decent championship players who were trying to play well above their abilities.

It's all rather sad and I'm sure we all rue the day that those shysters got involved with our club.

Muskrat Pleased he's gone, he was never the man to take us forward.

In March 2013, in the Is Adkins the right choice thread, I wrote the following:

Never wanted Brian to leave and strongly disagreed with his sacking. Also not convinced that Adkins will deliver. One thing is for sure, however much money he's given he will spend every penny of it, increasing the club's debts by millions so we'd better hope he lives up to the hype.

Having said all of that he's here now and he's our manager and as I support Reading, by definition I will support our manager. I suppose

On the same thread, Floyd wote the following:

[i][Pleased.

Four promotions under his belt - at least twice as good a track-record as any manager RFC have ever appointed - and his sides play good football, Southampton's 1-0 win against us back in November was extremely flattering.....for Reading.

Spent a lot? Well, mainly in the Prem but - newsflash - thats what you kind of have to do to stay in this league. Points-wise, Saints cushion to survival under their new bloke is no greater now then it was under Adkins.

I like his positive attitude, handles the media well and clearly has something about him. Well done to all concerned at Reading FC for securing this.
/i]

Not finger pointing or anything like that, just highlighting how somebody with Floyd's obvious footballing knowledge was taken in by the Adkins hype and BS.

Get off your high horse!.

Also when did Adkins do this " One thing is for sure, however much money he's given he will spend every penny of it, increasing the club's debts by millions so we'd better hope he lives up to the hype."

I was very happy with Adkins' appointment. Got that one wrong.

Keep Dolan clean and away from the first team. Karacan to take the team for Watford, then Jimmy Kebe to take up management and LEAD US TO VICTORY.

I liked the way he was getting us play possession football, but when you have 65% possession and lose 1-6 then something is wrong.

Shame it hasn't worked out.

Who now?

Coppell?

Now? Not sure I should give an opinion given I was so wrong about Adkins

Someone of some real experience who might be able to get the best out of this team. Conversely, an internal appointment (Dolan the only one who springs to mind) could get that bit extra out of players he knows. Ed Milibandesque answer there for sure :!:

When we changed managers in similar circumstances this time 5 years ago I thought we could beat the drop. This time around I really think we might struggle to do so. Let us hope I was as wrong about that as I was about Adkins :!:

Man Friday
semtex1871 I really hope this club gets relegated now. NH is the pcunt that needs to go.

I was happy to see the back of Coppell and McDermott....but this is disgraceful. If they get either of these two back I will be sending my season tickets back. Pcunts

In 140+ years the only managers who have won something for Reading. You really are a complete twot or a Swindon fan...

Agree what a complete dick he is!

rattLOLed

though, I do honestly hope we are relegated just so Dolan gets sacked, and you gimps turn on the board who are the real villains in all of this.....

With you on Dolan. He is becoming almost messiah like on the back of.............not an awful lot really. Perhaps the guy likes being under the radar anyway?

Leave him be I say & get a double 'ard b@stard in

You really think Adkins is not largely cuplable for this shambolic season? And why on earth would you want your own team relegated you numpty?!

there hasn't been the development of youngsters we were hoping to see

Rightly so, they've looked woefully out of their depth. People crack on like the academy system is one of the best, the likes of Jake Taylor and Craig Tanner have proven otherwise.

This post will be embarrassing in a couple of years... I can understand being underwhelmed by Taylor (though he's been quietly effective) but not Tanner.

I believe Atkins has been royally stitched up by the board and has been sacked to shift the attention away from the shambles going on behind the scenes. I think we need to get relegated just to get the fans to turn on the motley crew of a board running the club into the ground....

He doesn't, he's a troll.

Besides we'll likely run out of prawn sandwiches in hospitality if we go down.

RoyalBlue So the guy who created this whole f*cking mess (the initial sale(s) and then what happened whilst he was 'in day to day charge') - the so-called genius business man - is still hanging around like a bad smell! No doubt still conspicuous by his absence as he only seems to want to appear when the plaudits are being handed out and it's been bad news time for the past year.

They say be careful what you wish for and I hope those who wished for Adkins sacking remember that when the next fall guy is appointed and also struggles because the owners and board don't provide the backing that is needed.

I feel for him.
But agree, in the end the responsibility lies solely with SJM for the failed sale and mess it's left
In antons absence
