Far too little whelm.

A very dull man with a very dull football style.

I wanted either somebody with a Reading connection, or somebody known as playing fast, exciting football. Clarke is as far from those things as possible.

He's a coach so should do a decent job for us....

We don't need a "manager" but someone who can get on the training ground with the players and actually get us playing football.

I reckon its a good appointment and he'll have the contacts at his former club/clubs to get some players in on loan etc that could help us

Not bothered either way about Clarke. He seems to be rated as a coach, but his last year at WBA was shambolic.

I just don't understand why Dolan has not been given a chance. Think most fans would have been pleased with his appointment, even as just a caretaker for now. Of course, he may not have even applied for it. I guess we'll never know on that score.

In other related matters, shouldn't Hammond get the old heave-ho now? Freshen up the whole background team?

Haag Royal Out of a job, probably came cheap, no Championship experience that I can see and no connection to Reading FC at all.

very underwhelmed.

Not at all bothered about a big name or whether he's cheap but I would've preferred someone familiar with our players or a past connection with the club.
Still, as long as we actually try to win a few games I'll support his appointment (if it happens) which I'm sure he'll be delighted to hear.

Looked a total pi$$head in his last months at WBA. Which I like in a manager.

He's on a bit of a hiding to nothing to be fair but I'm not adverse to his appointment.

Because Dolan doesn't want it and Hammond actually does a decent job at what is expected of him.

It's proving very difficult to find pictures of his wife on the interflid.

With this in mind, I'd like to reserve judgement until we've seen how fat her arms are.

Binfield Royal I had the impression Adkins had lost the dressing room towards the end
I got the opposite impression, possibly too loved up with the dressing room - always talking about the positives, never giving the hairdryer treatment.... which is fair enough, if it's a 19 year old academy kid and you're expecting too much of him, not so for the pros.

I'd buy this, dressing room didn't fear him enough. Think this became Mcdermotts problem when performances weren't right as well.

You say that, but John Bumstead's wife is an absolute scorcher.

McCleary was particulary disappointed he went. Gunter was supportive recently as well, as was Karacan yesterday. It seemed he was well liked, but either couldn't motivate (I don't buy that) or off-field issues are still a factor.

I'd be happy with this. Question marks over his quality but that applies to almost all managers. Particularly ones we could get.

I'm assuming Dolan was honest when he said he didn't want it last time. I can understand that. High pressure. No job security. High scrutiny. He's virtually got a good job for life at the acadamy.
