If there's one thing you can definitely say for Blackman, it's that he doesn't lack confidence in what he tries.

Which is surprising given all the stick he's had from the fans since he's been here, fair play to him. Always notice how confident he looks before taking a penalty as well.

Hopefully he's learning from it.

Not convinced he's good enough in the air to be any more effective than Pog as a target man.

We shouldn't be looking for someone to play as a big target man. We always look better playing the ball on the ground, forget lumping it up to a 6 footer competing against 2 other 6 footers and play round and through them....

Agree, but it's a useful option to have when used sparingly and you do need someone you can knock the ball up to and hold on to it to releave pressure and bring others into the attack. That person doesn't have to be huge and the ball doesn't have to be to their head. I'm not sure Blackman's got that. He's got quick feet though. HRK ought to be able to do it, but just seems a bit too much of a wet blanket to me.

In modern day football it is more common to play with 1 upfront and various combinations of 5 in midfield. Plus, if we ever get promoted back to the Premier League I highly doubt we'll be wanting to play 2 upfront, so we may as well get used to it now.

Personally I like the target man up front with someone playing in behind linking the play, plus the 5 in midfield should make us harder to break down.

we lack and have done since long left a mobile striker that can work the channels, this of course only become beneficial if you have midfielders who are prepared to get in the box....
