Somerset boro boro fan in peace, haven't really seen much of reading this season to be fair, i think it shows that you are not having the season you were hoping for?

with regards to the game i see a tight 1-0 win for us to revenge the home defeat earlier this season. if you are struggling with attacking options coming up against the tightest defence in the league doesn't help.

in reply to if AK is off to the barcodes, i doubt it. he has a working project at the riverside and can't imagine seeing Ashley as a boss as a big swaying factor. i think whoever takes over will be foreign though.

good luck fo the rest of the season after this weekend

on a different note i was asked to answer who was readings all time top scorer to register? the answer of Senior is not correct as surely Tony Macphee(including his pre-war goals) is you all time top scorer?

Most people predicted a mid-table finish this season so considering our distance from both the play-offs and relegation, we're probably right on course, beforehand with Adkins we were slowly drifting towards the relegation zone and the 6-1 sealed his fate, seems like Clarke is going to help us move up the table but I can't see us joining in the hunt for a play-off position.

You are correct although, if you only count Football League goals, the answer's Ron Blackman.

so how is the answer Trevor Senior?

Talking of Trevor Senior, what a great player and character he was for both clubs....

Myself and Ashley Fothergill were in there (what a great lad he is, lives in New York now) and when Trevor Senior joined we had such a laugh, he is one of the funniest people I have met along with Trevor Putney and Neale Cooper at the Villa. Me and Trev Senior used to get on famously and we were constantly together, we used to slaughter him about his dress sense, so we said right we are taking you down town to sort you out. So we took him to Big Cyrils shop (Zone?) and kitted him out, he still looked like a binman! Like he said, clothes just don’t suit him!!

Once at Maiden Castle, Colin Todd was giving out a bollocking about something and he said to Trevor “Are you laughing at me?” and Trevor said “No, I’ve just got big teeth!!” Brilliant!! In San Jose Bruce asked him to warm up and he just rubbed his arms twice and said “I’m ready!” He was great, great for the spirit and an important factor in us going up; his goal scoring record was incredible.

And pre-war is often ignored in reckoning these things, I think.

Agree, They brought 7000 to Blackburn, which is a record this season.

Could be lively.

We had a very good team in the immediate post war era but with only 1 team getting promotion from Div 3S each season, we spent the early 50's finishing in the top 3 but never top. Our home record in Blackman's time was frighteningly good. Trevor Senior also benefitted in some small measure from having 3 cup competitions a season.

Obviously a club legend here but It's nice to know that Boro fans hold Trevor in high esteem even though he was only there a short time. From my memory, he was pretty instrumental in getting a faltering Boro into the playoffs, He cetainly came back to us a better footballer than when he left albeit in a much less creative team than in his first spell.

Ronnie Blackman did not play pre-war, first featured in late 40's or early 50s IIRC. You must be thinking of his predecessor and mentor Tony McPhee, who was a better centre forward IMO.

Really??

Mboro had sold shy of 1500 earlier today. They won't be bringing anything like what your mate is saying. 2000 Max.

Boro fans have always being their just they now feel like its a team effort to get promotion when i say the team i don't just mean the team on the pitch i mean the fans, manager, back room staff, chairmen ext all working together to push for promotion its a group effort. Under managers like Gordan Stracken and southgate the fans have felt disconnected with the club under karanka its changed now means people coming back into the ground.

Agree, Boro have always had a pretty good following........in line with the North East's formidable and enthusiastic football supporting population - always some knowledgeable types among them whenever I've been up there before.

Anything other than a defeat would probably be considered a result for Reading tbh. I'll go 1-1 with Reading looking like the away side.

I think they have a 30,000 + stadium. Similar to say Leeds or Wolves in respect to fan base. But Reading is a long way to come to watch your team constantly get one hell of a beating.
