linkenholtroyal Anybody think Kevin Doyle is worth a punt he's apparently being returned from palace, one. 30 odd year old for another

He's still on silly money, and hasn't looked a decent striker for a long time. No thanks.

Hopefully he might realise that he's on more wages than he's worth, if we could talk his wages down then he wouldn't be a bad option imo.

To offer us what though? Another striker that doesn't get nearly enough goals? Might as well stick with Blackman or HRK and hope they improve then. Doyle's done all of his developing, he'll only continue to decline now.

linkenholtroyal the press have mentioned St Ledger twice now in passing once on Charles Watts Wednesday chat and today in defenders reading should be looking at ( http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/footb ... ld-8433072 ) do the press no something we don't know and has there been contact??? we don't really need another CB do we, I know he did play left pack a few times in his younger years but it has been a while??? :?:

When you say 'the press' you Charles Watts has mentioned it, probably because he was thinking ahead of his defenders article.

St Ledger might well be worth a look though. He played a lot for Leicester last year and if we can get him on a reasonable wage then he'd strengthen the squad and add some experience.

My main problem with St Ledger, is that there must be a reason no one has snapped him up/Ipswich released him without playing a game.

Another rumour:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2907356/Manchester-United-forward-Keane-wanted-loan-Reading-Blackpool.html

"Manchester United striker Will Keane is the centre of a tug-of-war between Championship duo Reading and Blackpool.

The 22-year-old has made just one first-team appearance for the Red Devils, appearing as a substitute in the 3-2 defeat to Blackburn back in 2011.

Keane spent time out on loan at Wigan and QPR last season, but failed to find the net in 14 games."

I hope there is truth in the Keane rumour.

Young lad who has heaps of potential - seems to have fallen off many team's radars since his injury. If we could get him back to his best, he could do a very good job for us.

Wouldn't Simon Church be cheaper?

In fairness, he has only played 14 games. Never seen him play (that I can remember), so can't comment. Anyone actually know what he's like?

I take back what I said he has been reasonably prolific at youth level and in reserve leagues for united so may be worth a punt

Remember seeing him come on for Wigan last season. Looked sharp- quick, good shot. But stayed deep- not one that'll hang on the last man or hold the ball up (based on that half an hour or so...)

I'd tend to agree. I thought he played a fair bit for Leicester last season but having double checked it looks like that was the season before, so that changed things a fair bit for me.

The last thing we need is Ferdinand Mk II.

If he's still fit and able, and within budget, then he'd be the type of player we need.

will keane 22
st ledger 30
Warnock 33

average age nearly 29
other than will keane there not really young up and coming players really that will do a job for a few years.

Maynard link was completely made up and St Ledger was a suggestion. Keane and Warnock are rumours. The only one we're looking to sign is Travner.
