Yes. But it's confidential at this point, so no, haven't heard anything.

New companies formed late last year Plot 1,2&3 Ltd seem to allude to development.
Surveyors have been up there for the past week measuring the roads and buildings ,look out for the various painted blue marker stripes on the curbs.Rumours of a new access road towards Greenpark.

Hopefully once they have settled on a grand scheme they will announce it, failing that keep an eye on the planning portal.

Hopefully more leisure than retail, and good call on the surveyors Ms 1830.

From what little I have heard it might include another hotel.

There is a new 120 bed hotel planned to be put on the old HP site when that goes ahead so RBC may not wish to see another one quite so quick or so close possibly overloading the area with hotels ?

But with the GP railway station and MRT 1&2 proposals approved then the area is going to be much further developed by 2025

I contacted Dirk Gently for comment. He told me, and I quote:

Dirk Gently The whole scheme is now dead in the water

Point taken MS, but for years the new Racino was planned, eventually not to happen. It tends to be first come first served.

Some sites seem destined to take ages to go ahead, often as the owners make enough on increase in land value, why develop.

This could just be planning for the Cross Rail network that is planned to go to Green Park. A few pubs around the ground would be welcomed too!

Could be a connection to the Green Park station or it could be an extension of Green Park planned which will see some of the car park become offices.

A new pedestrian access route crossing Foudry Brook would have to be put in for the Green Park station to make sense in terms of getting to the stadium as it's a massive detour north or south unless you fancy swimming it.

There's an existing path through Green Park that is more or less on a bee line between the stadium site and the station site so the obvious thing to do is just to extend that over a new bridge and str8 into the stadium site (my red line).

Edit: Didn't realise there's actually a diddy little bridge there already, and what looks like a path one could scramble up into the Stadium site. Obviously not something suitable as a "formal" access route, but I guess that's where one would be.

That already is a formal access route with stairs upto the stadium site. Its used by 100's every game.

I wouldn't have thought that there would be enough people living locally enough to sustain any pubs around the ground.

Yeah they'd have to survive solely on Match day and office lunch business. That ain't gonna work.

Decent idea. If Reading really has ambitions of being a City, facilities like this are important. Also a decent swimming pool.
