Royal Rother If LVG was David Moyes he'd be getting absolutely hammered right now.

No idea why he's getting away with it - looks to me like he hasn't got a clue what he's doing.

As an Arsenal fan what does this make you think about Wenger (the manager below LVG in the table)?

Ian Royal I get the feeling there's a culture that the players know best and after Ferguson no one else is likely to be able to impose themselves on them. I think it might take a few years and several more managers before that culture change.

Although getting a manager that focuses on sorting out their defence and midfield rather than just buying more goalscorers and flair attackers would probably help.

So buying Shaw (a full back), Rojo (a left sided cb), Blind (a defensive midfielder), Herrera (midfielder) and AdM (midfielder) wasn't an attempt to sort out the midfield and defense?

Mr.Swainey Empty seats in the away end.

Some of their southern fans obviously have to pick and choose between going to see United or seeing Chelsea. Very expensive to go and see both in the same weekend.

Spare a thought for Kes who supports has to pick between three teams Chelsea, United and Reading.

They average about 3000 a game (13/14 wiki) so guessing the other 5000 were there to see Utd

As explained many times over the last 12 years I'm not an Arsenal supporter, but my Dad WAS and that leaves a certain legacy, and whilst they continue to play the type of football I favour, I guess I will continue to want to see them do well, certainly when compared to Chelsea, Man Utd and, to a lesser extent, Man City.

And anyway, everyone KNOWS Wenger doesn't know what he's doing don't they?

AdM - Di Maria? Attacker.

Those are a start, but they've still got no good centrebacks.

Who has in the prem? Terry is good, Cahill average (the worst player in the chelsea side plays for england  )
Mangala looks a donkey, Kompany has been having Phil Jones level brain farts this season
Liverpool have Skertl, Lovren, Sahko 4fs
Arsenal don't have any

plus United's defenders are seemingly made of glass as well as being shit

Defending on the whole is pretty poor in the Premier League over the last few seasons but improving it isn't about buying more and more players it's about installing organisation, discipline and an appreciation that sometimes you have to actually defend and play defenders.

It feels to me like as we've moved away from 4-4-2 and gone more 4-3-3 / 4-3-1-2 / 4-2-3-1, the defending has gone to pot! Maybe just a coincidence, but we're trying to modernise our game, and at the same time, something that was always an English strong point has faded miserably. It's great for attacking football, but you can be found far too open as well.

Serie A is generally a lower scoring league - is 442 more prevalent there?

Watched the game tonight (Old Man is Utd) against Burnley. United are absolutely bobbins. RVP and Falcao are terrible, currently living on former reputation. Rooney in midfield is woeful. Prolly one of the worst performances I've seen from United. Not convinced by LVG.

And so the Dutch fool does it again... how can he keep surpassing his own levels of idiocy every week? Stunning stuff.

Van Gaal said: "At this moment, we don't have a striker who scores 20 goals."

"It is true," said Van Gaal. "Robin van Persie cannot deny it, Falcao cannot deny it and Rooney is not playing there much anymore."

Think what's happening at Man Utd is a classic case of commercialisation overtaking the workings of the team. LVG has got a tricky job of knitting together a team that needs regular Champions League football as a minimum.

Yet those running the club know that they have to sign big name star players to keep the punters happy and the revenue and interest levels up. Difficult to balance a successful side against the moronic one eyed tourist type fans that demand players to be signed that they've heard of even if they don't fit the managers plans.

Another inept performance from team and manager rescued with a giveaway in the last minute.

Well, if nothing else they are a very lucky team this season and it's good to be lucky.

I'm not sure LVG is the man to take United forward. I know it may not be best idea to sack him in the summer whether he gets them in the top 4 or not, but it depends if there is someone better. For example if Guardiola became available I'd be going all out to get him if I was United. This also applies if I was Arsenal and probably Man City too.

There's a lot of clamour for Guardiola. Not following European leagues too closely - why the fascination with him? Yes, he has won stuff, but he's managed two of the three best club sides in Europe in the last 5 years. Is there evidence Guardiola is actually winning trophies?
