Even if he turns out to be 40 years old and two stone overweight he is still a better finisher than anyone else at this club.

If he's 32 then maybe Lazio were right and this guy is actually 17....

Well, that one snuck up on HNA then? No mention on UR&G, just straight to the team page. This could be the most important signing of the last few years if it works out well. If ever there was a natural CF this could be him.

Yep, no mention on UR&G, aside from the six-page thread.

Really am amazed at the negativity on this one, it's about the best signing we could have hoped or dreamt for. We have no money, and we've signed an experienced, natural goalscorer who looks in decent shape and potentially has a few years left in him on a short term deal for a free transfer. I can't imagine the club will have given him a big wage as they will have been bitten on the Ferdinand deal. Add to that he is perfectly capable of the spectacular as well as the simple tap ins, he could be just what the club needs to further improve morale in the squad as he seems to come across as a very upbeat character and surely it'll give the crowd a lift on match days.

I had completely forgotten his spell at Blackburn.

Very good record at Blackburn and Leicester. Doesn't offer much apart from goals, but that's exactly what we need. Hopefully we get the most out of him - if not, it's only a short term deal. Only a year older than Murray and Pog too!

The other interesting thing about the official club statement is they usually take the oppurtunity, in recent years, to say 'this concludes the clubs transfer business this year'

which they havn't.

But in for the YAK 8)

Ok, so I didn't really say what I meant to.

A UR&G that appears just as he is about to sign is not really advance notice. So, this is definitely one that has slipped under the ITK radar until the very last moment. ie there hasn't been weeks of hints, denials by HNA, debate over whether such a big signing could possibly be any more than a daft rumour.

But I concede that isn't what I said!

Well yes, and I acknowledged that ("all but"), but that's not the point I was making.
