How does this signing typify that we've got a bunch of fans who are idiots?

MouldyRoyal The Ultimate Warrior wasn't really from Parts Unknown.

I don't know where he was actually from, so at least from my POV, that's exactly where he was from

Because we need a proven striker and he is certainly one of those
Because he is available
Because he won't cost an arm and a leg
Because he has accepted a contract that won't cripple us if it all goes wrong

Sufficient reasons for you?

Yak Fax

Here are our favourite facts about yaks

  1. Over 90% of the world's yak population of nearly 15 million lives on the Tibetan Plateau in the Himalayas.

Lamps in Tibetan monasteries are fuelled by yak butter.
- Yak cheese has higher amounts of heart-healthy fats than cheese from dairy cattle.

  2. Yak polo, played on yaks instead of horses, was pioneered in Mongolia a decade ago.

  3. The first yakalo, a cross between a yak and an American bison, was produced through selective breeding in Alberta, Canada in 2000.
  4. A major use for the yak’s coarse tail hair is to create fake beards worn by actors in Chinese opera.
  5. In local communities, yak bone is often made into exquisite handicrafts, including combs, buttons and ornaments.
  6. The only natural predator of the wild yak is the Tibetan wolf.
  7. In Mongolia yak milk is fermented in a leather pouch and distilled as a "milk wine" called archi.
  8. In winter a wild yak can survive temperatures as low as - 40 degrees (C).
  9. A wild yak doesn’t reach full size until six to eight years of age.
  10. Amongst yaks living in the wild, births usually occur in June and a single calf is born every other year.
  11. Dried yak dung is used as fuel on the treeless Tibetan plateau.
  12. The male wild yak can reach up to 6.5 feet high at the shoulder and can weigh as much as 2,200 pounds. Wild female yaks are up to a third of the male’s size. Domestic male yaks are much smaller in size and weigh up to 1,300 pounds while domestic female yaks weigh up to 560 pounds.
  13. Even in the below-freezing winters, yaks have been spotted bathing in lakes and rivers. This is because yak’s warm coat provides insulation through a thick outer coating of long hair and a dense inner coating of matted, shorter fur.
  14. It is believed that the strength of yak wool comes from the high levels of amino acids contained within the fibres.
  15. Yak wool is very resistant to static electricity meaning garments a less likely to spark or cling to the body during dry conditions.

Also impressive because I used the List function

Should be a great signing. A player who can finish and who's decent in the air. A proven goalscorer rather than a punt on an unproven youngster is probably what we needed. It is to some extent still a punt but looks a pretty good one.

I knew he left Blackburn to go abroad and when I heard where to (China and then Qatar) I was questioning his ambition slightly. However, he probably always intented to come back to England, which is what I thought. The guy only needs a handful of goals to have 100 in the Premier League. We have certainly never had a player who has scored this many top flight goals before. Lets hope he can get that last handful when he's playing for us at some point.

Not questioning his age at all but you would think he is older than 32 but I think thats only because he's been around for what seems like absolutely ages. I first heard of him the year before he joined Portsmouth because he was playing for Maccabi Haifa against Man Utd in the Champions League (2002-03 season), can't believe it was over 12 years ago.

Anyway, FEED THE YAK AND HE WILL SCORE!!! URZZZZZZZ

A good finisher, with good heading ability and strength - sounds like what we need, so I'm cautiously 'in'. Still think though that we're seriously lacking a striker with some pace, so that's a serious issue for us. Plus a pacy LW .... although maybe SC thinks that Travner will be able to play LB and we can push up Obita, but I'm sceptical.

Yeah - sorry but I trust the club on this one.

I get trusting the club normally, but how the hell are they going to be a source of authority on the age of a player who could conceivably be lying about his age to them as well?

Maybe he is amazingly still only 32. Maybe even if he's 37 he'll still bring the goods. But it's bloody surprising and suspicious to me that he's supposedly younger than I am.

Well normally to work in this country you have to provide accurate important details such as age. I assume there are some controls in place to make sure people can't lie. Somehow doubt there are similarly strong controls in Egypt which is where this conflict seems to originate from..

But the source would almost certainly be a Nigerian passport or birth certificate. So if he's fiddled that at source, everything else is child's play.

Alf Ramsey lied about his age - took two years off and it got him in the Tottenham and England teams. FWIW.

Talk Sport Radio highlighted 3 'Ups' (ie good transfer business) and 3 'Downs' (ie bad transfer business). The Yak was the first of the 'Downs' they mentioned!! But if you listen to Talk Sport you'll know that is probably a good sign!!!
