Ian Royal But the source would almost certainly be a Nigerian passport or birth certificate. So if he's fiddled that at source, everything else is child's play.

And if my auntie had bollocks she'd be my uncle

Fiddling with passports and birth certificates really isn't that easy in the first place, and if he was 37 I'm pretty sure it would be showing in the incredibly scientific medicals they put players through these days

There have been a few articles over the years written about players from West Africa, Nigeria in particular, who fiddle their documents at a fairly young age as it helps their football career so much. Yakubu is a name that has cropped up, alongside Kanu, in these articles frequently.

Not sure why Nigerians so so into this, maybe that is just somewhere where it is easy to do.

It is the documents used to prove your birthday and get a passport that are often suggested as the ones incorrect

Sorry i forgot that Nigeria has no corruption problems.

Medicals don't tell you age, they tell you fitness and injury issues.

Fitness, injury issues, and age often have a very high correlation. And modern day medicals show much more than just fitness.

Only Reading fans would complain about signing a player who has scored more PL goals than Cristiano Ronaldo.

There's no way he's 32 but still a better player than Pog, HRK, Blackman...

Apparently Damian Green MP, the former immigration minister, is a season ticket holder at Reading. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Pretty much guarantees promotion which I'm actually not sure I want. Bit too early for the squad yet

Who gives a stuff how old he is? I don't care if hes 40+ so long as he bangs a few goals in and lifts the crowd. Fingers crossed he stays fit but at least his contact is short and he might give Pog the impetus to keep up his new found enthusiasm. Well done Reading FC and welcome Yak. Can't wait to see him in action

I think we'd have reason to complain if we signed Shearer and so's he.

This reminds me of Joseph Minala, an 18 year old who plays for Lazio that had his age publicly disputed last year. He was believed to be 42 years old and not 17.

In Minala's case I can see why there was a dispute though.

OMG, this thread says everything about the number of complete tools we have in our fan base :|

This is a practically risk free punt on a former Prem striker with a decent record wherever he has played and yet we have the usual twats, plus some I thought better of, slagging off the guy before he's kicked a ball for us.

What made Roberts a decent signing or, had some of our resident pr+cks begging the club to spend a small fortune on Murray, yet has some struggling to form an orderly queue in order to slate Yukubu :|

If he's a fraction of the player he was 2 years ago, he's light years ahead of anyone else we have in front of goal and, if he's useless (which I seriously doubt) we've lost very little and he'll be gone by June.

Get a grip some of you, FFS

[quote="RoyallyFcuked"]The guy only needs a handful of goals to have 100 in the Premier League. We have certainly never had a player who has scored this many top flight goals before. /quote]

We've had a player who has scored considerably more top flight goals than Yak....

I agree with those who see this as a decent gamble. There isn't much of a risk and he could easily knock in 10 goals this season.
