Match day programme

by JC » 02 Feb 2015 11:59

Why does it not have an index. Virtually all other clubs manage it. I did email the club last season but did not get a reply

Generally you'll find, if you say something negative about the way a company runs/does things, they don't like it and won't reply. Like Reading Football Club or Reading Borough Council.

Depends how many times you contact them if he tries another 2-4 times then he may get an answer.

It does have a contents page, it's pretty crap, but it clearly says contents at the top of page 3.

Contents page tells you what's in it. An index page tells you on which page to find it?

Kingsley's Kids Quiz is on page 72 & 73 in the last one I bought... does that help?

Against my better instincts, I'm kind of intrigued by your problem. What exactly are you expecting an Index to feature? As others have pointed out, I think you're mistaking an Index for a Table of Contents. However, assuming you're not... I'd be really interested in what you think an Index would bring to the programme. I confess I don't buy them so I've no idea how big it is - 64 pp? That's not a massive amount of pages to leaf through to be honest. So, an Index would feature what.. Karacan, pp 3, 7, 9, 11, 23 45, 63. etc. It's going to be an 8 pp supplement to the programme already.

I am not quite sure why you have to take the piss. Sometimes I want to find the feature about the away team. It is 84 pages to trawl through which is OK but if you want to find something quickly it is not easy

How much do they charge for the match day "magazine" these days?

When it raised above £1.50 it became too rich for my blood.

I think the last one I bought was £4, but it might still be £3 / £3.50. I only really buy a couple a season.

JC - surely you just flick through and look for the pictures of footballers / managers who aren't at Reading if you want the away feature? It can't be significantly quicker to find the contents page, look up what page you want and then flick to that page. Assuming there is one. An index would take even longer.
