Royal Lady He always looks a bit miserable

So did Coppell!! Not sure if our new SC has SSC's sense of humour though! But he's a refreshing change from NA's sound bytes so I'm liking him so far!

picaso I think he's improved the group defensively and it was excellent to see such a good fast counter attack goal against Sheffield Wednesday.

The one that was disallowed for "offside"?

We've not really had much problem attacking on the counter when there's space. It's breaking down a set defence where our issue lies.

I've always quite liked him before he came here, and was keen on him being appointed as well, so I'd kind of taken to him already.

I think he's doing a pretty decent job so far. We look a much more balanced team than we did under Adkins and he's not had a great amount of time to drill them. My only concern with him from his West Brom days was whether or not he can build a side of his own instead of just patch up and enhance one that somebody else has put together.

We'll find out in about 12 months time.

As for his apparent lack of love for the club, well that not only shows a bit of ambition but also mirrors Coppell's early days with us, so he's doing well on all counts so far for me.

Miserable = Sincere (Clarke)

Smile = Smug (Adkins)

I always listen to the BBCRB coverage after a fixture. I like the way he comes across. A perfect fit for Reading. Very honest view of the games. Seems to have settled in very quickly and well. I'm hoping he does a 4 or 5 year stint. Clubs that change managers frequently rarely succeed.

I'd say Clarke looks more grumpy than miserable, whilst Coppell always seemed to be haunted by some unseen ghosts of a terrible past lying just beyond the human plain of existence bearing a tidings of an apocalyptic future...but that's just me.

Think the 2nd was a counter attack

Encouraging signs.
Sorting the defence out is basic starting point for new managers, but was especially important as he took over straight after conceding 6. Seems to have done a good job there.
Was worried before Saturday that we might be turning into a "concede less than the oppo" side which could mean a boring tenure. Saturday was an exciting game and showed plenty of encouraging signs. Some better crosses/final balls, a couple of better finishes, a decent penalty & a lino keeping his arm down and we could have given them a right pasting. As it was a win and a clean sheet will do nicely.
As already posted it's too early to make a judgement yet, but positive signs. Glass half full and hopeful that it will be topped up.
Seems to be honest and to the point in interviews. I've not heard anything yet that has set off the alarm bells.

I think he's a breath of fresh air.

1. Drastically improved us defensively

2. Straight-talking

3. Dramatically improved our goal difference per game

4. Now expect us to win or draw, rather than "God knows!"

5. Chalobah looks a VG signing

6. Not scared to change the side (e.g. dropping Norwood)

This, especially points 1 and 2
And not forgetting Franchises points about being miserable, bald and having SC for initials
It's a Yes from me

Has the big advantage of low expectations, Adkins was expected to get promotion first season, but with things behind the scenes that was a tough call. Clarke just needs to keep us up. And no one will expect promotion next season.

Early days still with Steve Clarke gradually sorting out the team and the system he wants us to play

I am looking forward to a promising campaign next season.

With the Thais looking to spend big in the summer I reckon we're nailed on for promotion next season and 106 could be under pressure.
Clark will give us a swashbuckling side that score goals by the dozen.....

I don't take to him straightaway, and buying Yakubu makes me doubt his sanity a little.

But I didn't take to Coppell immediately either and I always quite liked Adkins, so I am aware that likeability doesn't have much to do with anything really.

Adkins - Irritating, they could play the same interview after every game as he always said the same things. I don't think he got the best out of the players at his disposal and alienated the fans. Tried to change the players to play his way rather than adapting his style of play to fit the players and achieve results. Unlucky with injuries - Although, as an ex-physio you'd think he would have carried out an inquiry into why we were getting so many - were the players generally unfit?, Got the impression he'd had enough and was either waiting for the chop or a magical pot of Thai gold to be added to the transfer kitty.

Clarke - Seems to be making improvements, players are playing better, benefits from players returing from injury, seems open and honest.

Unfortunately he's Scottish.

Although that's better than being a Scouser.
