... not ventured up to Court Place to see OCFC for a while - get to see quite a lot of 'Nomads' though - and they are up and down to the extreme in the Hellenic Prem.
Might well take a trip up there this Tue when North Ferriby are due to visit - really depends on where 'middle-one' has to go for her Cub Hike (she's a leader now so has to get there early - if they are starting from Mapledurham - as they sometimes do - I could be OK?)

What is the going rate for Conf North Floyders? - 'Magpies' charge £10; Hayes & Y and Farnborough stick you for £12 I think?

...and 'stoke's win at CONFS leaders Boreham Wd was result of the day in NL - some pretty rough results in the Southern League for our local sides yesterday - think SYCOB were the only winners?

How the hell can Slough's game be off due to frozen pitch?

Sounds like a crazily early decision when temp expected to be up to 45f by KO.

Rother i hope you may not be suggesting something there! :D

...today's NL results - huge congrats to the 'Yellamen' and 'Worthians' who progressed in the Vase - commiserations to 'Heathens' - put out by a very strong outfit reportedly and on a real midden of a pitch - not that their own pitch up at Magpie Lane is anywhere close to being a Billiard Table :P :

Saturday 7th Feb 2015

FA Trophy Quarter-Finals
1 Dover Athletic 3-3 Bath City
3 Torquay United 1-0 FC United of Manchester
4 North Ferriby United 1-0 Ebbsfleet United

FA Trophy 3rd Replays
Gateshead 2-2 Wrexham H win 5-3 on pens
FC Halifax Town 3-1 Dartford

FA Vase 5th Round
1 Bradford Town 0-2 Highworth Town att 468
2 AFC St Austell 2-0 Stanway Rovers
3 Ascot United 3-0 Norwich United att 286
4 Shaw Lane Aquaforce 3-2 Flackwell Heath att 282
5 Glossop North End PP Dunston UTS
6 Holbeach United PP Erith & Belvedere
7 North Shields 4-1 Phoenix Sports
8 AFC Mansfield 0-3 Tadcaster Albion
…so two out of three Hellenic sides advance to the Quarter Finals with admirable wins over strong opposition. Sadly Flackwell came up short in their very tough trip to Shaw Lane from Barnsley. Heathens led 2-1 at one stage.

CONFP
Altrincham 1-0 Aldershot - sorry - took the Sh!ts fixture in the Preview above from the 'official site' which hadn't picked up on the rescheduled Trophy game for Halifax. Only goal an og from new Player Manager (Barker) in his first match in charge since Scott got the boot!

Barnet 2-1 Woking
CONFS
Basingstoke Town 3-2 Maidenhead United att 575
Chelmsford City 2-1 St Albans City

Poole Town 4-0 Weymouth att 1249
SOUTH1C
Aylesbury 2-1 Uxbridge

Bedworth United 3-2 Chalfont St Peter
Egham Town 1-1 Marlow

Farnham Town
4-3 Molesey
Guildford City 3-3 Horley Town
Windsor 1-2 Westfield
... top three all win but both Windsor and Molesey slip up
CCL1
Bedfont & Feltham 3-1 Alton Town
Cobham 0-1 Farleigh Rovers
Dorking 5-2 Ash United
Epsom Athletic 0-5 Chessington & Hook United
Eversley & California 1-3 Staines Lammas
Sandhurst Town 2-4 CB Hounslow United
… lad and I just about got here for this one – his own match at lunchtime was delayed – insufficient number of fit pitches at Kings Meadow – so had to wait for a playable one to be available. Didn’t help that the Ref for his game, didn’t appear to have a functioning stop-watch, so relied upon people on the sidelines for timings – sure both halves overran considerably!
‘Fizzers’ looked competitive going forward but were undone by better individuals up front for the visitors.

Worcester Park 5-0 Sheerwater

HELLP
Abingdon United 2-3 Highmoor Ibis
Ardley United 6-0 Shrivenham
Milton United 1-0 Bracknell Town
Oxford City Nomads 2-0 Holyport
Thatcham Town
1-2 Kidlington
Wootton Bassett Town 3-1 Newbury
HELL1W
Letcombe 3-1 Shortwood United Res :) - villagers now level on points with 'Freds' Reserves (Wantage) at the foot of the table and only bottom on goals scored ... and now only 1 point behind surprise strugglers Fairford. Sadly I doubt it will make much difference to where they will be playing next season, as demotion is almost certain unless the Hellenic get some kind of dispensation from the FA who are demanding non-lit sides are kicked out from STEP06.
HELL1E
Burnham Res 1-0 Wokingham & Emmbrook
Chalfont Wasps 1-4 Penn & Tylers Green

...some news about Bracknell and the proposed on/off move to 'Blue Mountain'.
- Summary: if I paid attention whilst reading it 8) - seems to have fallen through as the 'Robins' directors didn't feel they would get a fair settlement in return for the sale of Larges Lane.

http://www.hellenicleague.co.uk/club_ne ... knell.html

...fairly quiet week elsewhere on the NL front locally:

Monday : Highmoor/Ibis slipped to a surprise home defeat (only their 2nd this term) by Highworth - who rested a number of leg-weary players, from the side that emerged victorious from their tough Vase match at Bradford Town.
I was here for a game low on incident; won by a clean strike on 8' - Highworth defended stoutly against a very meek Highmoor. Reportedly the Southern League officials were in place to check grading work, should - as is still quite likely - H/I finish in a promotion place. Palmer Pk is decidedly 'tatty' close up and the football can only be viewed from one side so will be interesting to follow development here. Doubt there is much the club can do to upgrade the 'furniture' beyond the cosmetic - the 'velodrome' layout with the closed in fencing for example, somewhat prohibits construction of further covered areas or seated stands.
Then again if they continue to perform like this it may not become an issue?

Tuesday: 'Magpies' prevailed 2-0 in the B&B Senior Cup semi-final vs holders Chesham at York Rd - now meet Aylesbury Utd in the Final -not sure of venue yet - haven't looked. Very possibly Amy Lane as it seems to be the favoured site for this competition - but they tend to move it around at short notice dependent upon League Play Offs

Southern -
Prem - both Sluff and Hungerford were held 0-0
One-Central - Marlow W1-0 at Leighton; strugglers AFC Hayes bt Royston 2-0 and continue their recent improved run of form to pull clear of N.Greenford at the bottom
One-S&W - Fleet thrashed 0-6 at Calthorp Pk by Taunton; at the bottom 'Bashley' got edged 0-1 very late on by Bridgwater - were only 5' from their first point in half a doz. games since NYD.
Just above them and slightly worrying for Wantage - Bishops Cleeve picked up three points with a home win over Tiverton.

CCL - not much to note Farnham beaten 0-1 at Babbs Mead by RPV; Chertsey drew 2-2 with Colliers Wood - on Wednesday Guildford bt Knaphill 2-1

Hellenic - mostly Cup action - in the Challenge Cup Binfield and Flackwell comfortably progressed to the 1/4 finals with wins over Thame ( 3-1 away - impressive) and Nomads (5-3) respectively.
Only one Premier match played: Ascot beat WBT 3-1 and take 3rd spot but are some distance behind 2nd placed Kidlington who themselves are a further 6 points adrift of H/I.

Wessex not much local action this week - though long time Premier Leaders Moneyfields (nr Portsmouth) were beaten at home by Portchester, allowing Petersfield to keep their 6 point lead at the top - North Hants Cup games saw easy wins: 5-1 for Winchester at Tadley and 4-1 for Whitchurch vs Overton

Finally - FA Vase 1/4 FINAL Draw as follows:

01 A.F.C. St Austell v Ascot United
02 Holbeach United or Erith & Belvedere v North Shields
03 Shaw Lane Aquaforce v Glossop North End or Dunston U.T.S.
04 Highworth Town v Tadcaster Albion

...ties to be played 28th Feb - will try and dig out the odds from somewhere and the two delayed ties above have been rescheduled to this Sat (14th) - however I think I'd heard Tadcaster were now favourites but still great to see two Hellenic sides in the last 8. :D

I'll be at York Road tomorrow where the MUSA have asked me to pick and award this weeks man of the match.

Not fussed how they play as I'll be giving it Mark Nesbet regardless. He's sooooooooo dreamy <3

Cracking game at Krooner Park where Camberley's biigest gate of the season, 201, saw an entertaining draw with Windsor. The visitors raced into a 2-0 lead with both from Omar Riaz - the second being an absolute pearler into the top corner. Camberley preseed and Cortnage in the Windsor goal was at his agile best to stem wave after wave of attack. Unfortunately for Windsor, half time could not come fast enough and two late goals meant that the scores were level at the interval.

Second half and Windsor saw a lot more of the ball and, but for a bit mroe luck, could have stolen all three points. Both teams gave it their all and also very well refereed considering the pudding of a pitch that was endured. A draw was probably a fair result.

I appreciate they may have adapted their style to their bog of a pitch and their personnel (and fair play on that) but I really wouldn't want to watch Camberley every week.

Worse than watching Reading under Ian Branfoot.

Given that they've been talking about the move for several years now, you'd have thought they have worked out their cut, and the site they'd have been given, just a tad earlier.

Then again, this is a club who continued to have references to their move to Peacock Farm, and even mentioned the move in their programme for the visit of Barnet in the FA Cup, long after that move had fallen through, if memory serves me right.

... as per my views back on P190 when I went a couple of weeks back (apols for a spot of self-Doddering):

They are not that easy on the eye, unless you can appreciate the sheer relentlessness of their style: – I could see Camberley actually thriving at the level above with this squad – not something I’d readily predict about any of the other leading pack in this division – that I’ve seen. It is clear they do possess some talented ball players but these only come to the fore once they've almost bludgeoned their opponents into submission.

... scores from yesterday:

CONFP
Aldershot Town 2-1 Welling United -Sh!ts pinch it with a 92' pen

http://www.sloughtownfc.net/article/666 ... -proposals

Looks Slough Town are not that far away from the next roadblock

Will be very interesting to see what would happen if they did return to the town. In theory the town could support a conference club but i'm not sure the locals care that much these days.
