Chelsea wont be paying him that when he's nowhere near the first-team yet.

Gilksy Chelsea wont be paying him that when he's nowhere near the first-team yet.

Chelsea have been paying him that since his 17th birthday, as agreed in a pre-contract agreement he signed when he was 15.

I would be very surprised if we're paying all his wages.

I doubt we are, considering all the mess of the Russian regime, I very much doubt we'll be racing out to pay someone 30k+/week.

I very much doubt we are paying him that much.

However, it wouldn't surprise if one of the conditions of his loan is that he plays every week when he is fit. Would explain why he got put in as a make shift centre half when our own actual centre half Cooper was sat on the bench.

Not really. As we could have easily kept him in CM, where he's been effective, and bombed off Norwood for Cooper.

Sounds a marvellous idea. Now all we need is a DeLorean car and we can secure the 3 points because Wigan were dire.

Not been impressed with him.

Regardless of who's paying the wages, his form for us makes Pog look value for money

A mate of mine works for Watford and he said they wanted to bring Chalobah in but wouldn't guarantee him regular first team football. He didn't say directly about wages but they'd been interested in bringing him in when boro and burnley took him on loan but he was too pricey. Chelsea must have reduced terms wanted if Watford where back in for him.

The terms of the loan deal is if he plays in the first team that we don't have to pay his wages, hence why he has played every game since joining us this season.

Its only about 800k for the 5 months he'll be here. If we're not paying a "loan fee" then it probably works out about right

And yet Williams has been at his best next to him, rather than mediocre with anyone else.

^ This.

It's no coincidence that Williams' best performances last season were when he was alongside Akpan. Take the shackles off and you get the best out if Williams. Chalobah allows Carke to do that. Just not sure if it's a genius move by SC, or a happy accident.

Would love to see how Williams gets on alongside Karacan. Don't think that's ever going to happen though.

Which rather echoes what I've been saying for about 2-3 years. We need an effective defensive midfielder to free up the more creative elements of the team - the last one we had was Leigertwood.

Chalobah is very much a work in progress, he has some decent qualities it's just his application is poor. This would be fine if he was one of our young players that we would reap the benefits of his progression next season but unless we buy him, Chelsea (or more likely another Championship club) will benefit.
