Royal Ginger No police went into the stands.
The stewards couldn't let one bloke dance around on the steps whilst everyone else sat, and definitely couldn't just let it be when he refused to sit. The rules are made clear, they had only one course of action. Shame they had to as he was doing a good job. Many people who didn't see this incident are blowing it out of proportion. You'll see the same think happen at many sporting events and concerts up and down the country every day. This is no great injustice and no special event.
You are right, no police went into the stands, the cowardly tangos got them to do their dirty work in the concourse by all accounts. Why the f*ck did the club waste police time calling them?! It's not exactly like the bloke was violent or on the list of wanted hooligans. I saw most, if not all, of the incident from not that far away and it looked very much like the stewards overreacted. Both my son and I have also experienced that sort of overreaction, although we weren't actually thrown out because we talked our way out of the situation. However, that should not have been required because neither of us had breached any ground regulation.
In my opinion this was a great injustice but sadly not a special event at the Mad Stad. The people who are really to blame for destroying what atmosphere that there was at the Mad Stad are Clive Doyle and his merry band of deputies.
