BFTG Bolton

by RFCUK » 03 Mar 2015 23:01

Absolutely freezing and absolutely abysmal. So much so that I left after 88 minutes. Simply couldn't see it getting any better. Missed our equaliser unfortunately.

A single shot on target in each half (before leaving) and it was simply atrocious.

We managed to force them into three substitutions in the first half, and the possibility of wearing them down in the second seemed great. Unfortunately this wasn't to be.

Officials were also shocking, although the match wasn't dirty in my eyes. Mills and Norwood having their usual ranting at the officials. Was quite funny when the referee signalled a Bolton throw and the assistant signalled a Reading throw. Neither conceded so we took it. I think the assistants got equally annoyed at the man in the middles feeble attempts to control the game.

The first half was spent pretty much in our own half, although nothing clinical from either team, six shots with three on target for the home side, compared with our three shots to one on target. Feds kept us in it with three world class saves in the first half, and a few more in the second.

Second half we cam out strong for the first five minutes and thought we were going to change the game, wasn't to be though.

Subs at 70 minutes and Blackman made an immediate impact, with Cox running around like a dog chasing a ball..

Both sets of supporters were dismal, although neither really had anything to cheer about - 150 tickets purchased according to the staff on the single gate that was open.

Feds 8
Gunter 5 - poor crosses
Obits 5 - Pushed off the ball too easy
Hector 5 - his great touches are always a stroke of luck rather than planned
Pearce 6
Robson Kanu 5 - did nothing, literally nothing
McCleary 6 - had some decent runs but was often passed the ball out to the wing into empty space where he should have been and often went missing
Norwood 7 - Great energy
Mackie 7 - Same as Norwood
Chalobah 6 - You can see he has some talent, but often played dangerous balls and almost got caught out in the first half playing a clearance across our own 18 yard line,
Pog 5 - Hard worker but like MOTD said about Falcao on Saturday, he always has his back to goal and isn't ever going to making those through runs like Alfie used to.

Williams 6
Blackman 7 - Instant impact
Cox 6

Could write more but still warming up.

Did you have to leave early to beat the rush?

Watching their goal again. Shocking defending from Pearce. Completely outfought and outmuscled by Alfie.

Maybe (after Bradford) Pearce could do with a couple games out?

He was done last night, done v Forest

On his best form he's a very solid Championship defender but he's not on his best form

Depends who we're replacing him with. If it's Chalobah, I want Pearce to stay in please. If Clarke would appoint Cooper as a replacement, yep, I agree with you.

replace our only experienced defender before the biggest game of the year? in a game where he'll be bombarded with the kind of stuff he eats up for breakfast, and replace him with a child with about 4 games under his belt?
really?

Presumably you mean Bradford? Read it again.

Also...
melonhead replace our only experienced defender

Gunter? Obita? Kelly? They not experienced? Tbh, I'd even consider Hector as an experienced CB compared to the CB's at Bradford.

You're thinking of Eidur Gudjohnsen - Alfie is an ex-Reading striker who is 11st and 5ft 8in

A massive pat on the back for all 209 - a lot more dedicated than I am and I'm sure they consist of the fans who go to the vast majority of away games. I

According to Neil Lennon our goal was from a deflected pass and was a scuffed shot. The ref was a disgrace and their substitutions were all as a result of fouls from us. i assume that includes the pulled hamstring - clever trick that
