Snowball Everyone who says we are going down and ISN'T betting on us at 40-1, is...

There's a difference between saying we haven't improved / we aren't very good / Clarke isn't doing well enough / we're in a relegation fight

and saying we're going down.

so are we NOT going down?
it seems some what unlikely although we're certainly not safe.

Unfortunately, no one can say what will actually happen with certainty at this point.

"This [Bolton] was the biggest game of the week. And the biggest game of next week will be Brighton at home."

That sounds almost like a quote from SSC, but Steve Clarke hasn't been knighted yet - I really hope he has the intelligence to be joking here. On any level - commercial, historical, whatever you like - how is the difference between comfortably above the relegation zone and slightly less comfortably above the relegation zone (with 10 games still to play) more important than the SF of the FA Cup?

Obviously he's got to be judged on results, but in terms of that gut feeling, no I haven't taken to him.

Think he is simply reminding the players and fans what is important.. League over cup.
Yes we'd all love to win on Sat, but losing wouldn't actually be the end of the world - Clarke would keep his job, no players would leave, the financial situation would not worsen.

Don't perform in the league, and Clarke loses his job, we go down - and it's a looooong way back from there.

Saying that, if we lose on Sat and go down.. well.. that would be poo.

I simply read that as taking one game at a time, not that the Bradford game was less important than the league.

I'm definitely warming to him.

Thought he was spot on (not just hindsight, honest) with his selection for Watford and his justification for so doing.

His post match interview tonight was succinct and not a hint of cliche speak.

Got kahunas when it comes to the big matches & has been spot on tactically IMO. His interviews are BS free & we actually can defend from front to back. Such a contrast to Adkins.

Can't see why you wouldn't warm to him TBH.

if he wins the cup he has the leeway to do what he likes over the next few seasons.
a real trophy beats anything imo

"When I came to the club in December, I was really, really hopeful I could turn the league form around and get the club up close to the play-offs," he said.

"For various reasons and some reasons I can't even put my finger on, I haven't managed to do that.

"I've improved the team slightly, I've improved the mentality around the club.

"The FA Cup run has been a bonus and you have seen what it means to people."

I think he's assessed himself pretty fairly there.

This for me is massively important. I agree that he is a direct speaker and doesn't use cliches which I hate.

Whether he does good or bad I'm please that he doesn't say shiiiit like Adkins used to say

I like the part of his post-match interview that says "it looks good on the CV" - cool, he's looking for a bigger job already

Well he is a protégé of "The Chosen One" and has been tabbed for bigger things.

I think we're lucky to have him. Given adequate resources and time/if he stays long enough, I think he will make this team one that gets back to the PL and is built to stay there. The last 3 games (not including Watford for obvious reasons) show the results are starting to come...

and finishes fourth-bottom or better, he will have done well."

Yep
Steadied the ship, definitely improved our defensive approach, then made questionable selections and tactical decisions, but tactics absolutely right for FA Cup.
Like his interview style, no B S
He'll do for me
