GH Royal Would say Hammond has done really well since the Thai's come in, the players we brought in over the summer are all good additions on a tight budget.

Extended-Phenotype Dunno. I tend to wait for other people to suggest names who might be available, look them up on Wikipedia, then say "yeah, mega - they are well ace" or "shut up, he's fuking shit m8" depending on what I read.

Seems legit!

Don't worry NA won't be panicked into getting anyone just for the sake of it, we could be down to only 1 uninjured reasonably experienced centre back and he still wouldn't panic and bring in someone just for the sake of cover.

The trialist is Jure Travner. Slovenian defender. No indications he will sign. Is one of several trialists #readingfc have looked at.

From the GetReading site

Reading are hopeful of completing a deal for Slovenian left back Jure Travner.

The 29-year-old has been training with Royals for the past two months and has played for the club in some behind closed doors friendlies.

Former boss Nigel Adkins was impressed by the ex-Watford man and Reading have tied up a deal in principal to bring him to Madejski Stadium on a permanent basis.

But the move has been held up by a contractual dispute between Travner and his current club FC Baku, who play in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

Travner, who also had a spell at Scottish side St Mirren, continues to train with Reading and new manager Steve Clarke is happy to add him to his squad.

There is still some work to be done but getreading.co.uk understands Royals are hopeful a compromise will be reached with Baku which will allow the defender to play his part in the second half of the season.

Apparently we are one of only two teams in the FL that haven't used the emergency loan system this season - Leeds being the other

Good to see FIFA stepping to try and fix something else that is not broken. Of course if you scrapped the stupidity of transfer windows in the first place then they wouldn't even have to think about further messing about.

It's absolutely broken. The transfer window means nothing if teams are going to loan players until the end of the season. Tranmere loaning 12 "emergency" players. Nope, not having it.

The obvious solution then is to get rid of the transfer window

Restrict the number of emergency loans (perhaps three per season) to cover actual emergencies

How does the league classify an 'emergency'. I can't work out how Aké can be thought of as an emergency replacement with Williams, Karacan, Norwood, Akpan, Edwards and Kuhl at the club and with us choosing to send Guthrie and Taylor out on loan at the same time.

The league have no interest in defining an emergency.
The window is imposed by uefa and the FA got the emergency clause included because it meant they could get round the restriction. I think it is almost unheard of for a club to have an emergency deal rejected on the grounds of it not being a real emergency.

So is there no rule book definition of 'emergency' in this instance?
