Aaron Kuhl

by furthest flung fan » 07 Apr 2015 23:10

I watched Kuhl warming up against Ipswich at the start of this season, and could hardly take my eyes off him! A nippy, skilful player with energy to burn. He looked fantastic, and was definitely one for the future. Since then we've only seen scraps of him. He's always referred to positively in passing as 'another midfield option', but despite his recent England U21 call up his name is largely absent from the team sheet.
What's happened? Has his game improved this season? Should we have loaned him out a bit more? Will he stay next year? And is he as good as I thought he was?

He looked good for the U18s & U21s last year. He's young and his time will come. Probably needs a loan out to gain experience.
I'd prefer to see him and the likes of Jake Cooper, Jack Stacey, Rob Dickie, etc given a chance than some has-been or never-will-be.

Prefer to see him on the pitch over Akpan, Norwood (current form), an unfit Jem or a Chelsea starlet who won't be around come August.

Don't get carried away, he was a late call up for U19s which is quite a different kettle of fish.

I agree he looks a cracking little player and I'd hoped we'd see more of him this season but he's only just turned 19 and he's plenty of time to break into the team.

He'll be going nowhere at this summer (unless it's out on loan to toughen him up a bit).

He's regularly spotted in W8rose in Yateley. Maybe i'll give him a kick the next time I see him in there - might toughen him up.

When I first saw him (plus watching some under-age games)
I thought he'd be a star, but that feeling is on hold now, as
the last few games he seemed seriously short of pace.

Maybe he was carrying, a niggle, dunno.

If he was 'that' good, he would be in the team. Or, why isn't he out on loan to a div 1/2 side?

At the risk of sound terribly in the know, the club wouldn't let him go on loan for some reason. He was wanted by a club up north that plays in league 1, either he's too close to the first team to risk it or they don't think he's ready even for league 1 football.

After the Brentford away game it was suggested he needed to do a bit more maturing (read toughen up). So perhaps they are just giving him time, as the way he plays the game he needs to be able to hold someone off if they get close to him. He has plenty of time.

He's definitely not for sale by any stretch of the imagination so he's not been given up on.

He played very well. Wilshere was unsurprisingly the best player on the park but Kuhl held his own.
