dizzynewheights From what I understand reading twitter, FGW have finally realised what's happening on Saturday, decided to withdraw all group save discounts (not blatant profiteering you understand, they've actually stated this is to encourage people to drive rather than use public tansport :!: ) and then said any tickets already bought won't be valid - but don't worry, return them to the point of sale and you can get a refund (subject to a £10 admin fee)

It's now been pointed out to their absurdly named social media assistants that this isn't terribly reasonable and they are now saying all tickets already purchased will be valid

It's going to be utter chaos on Saturday

I can see the gates just being open and them having manned staff, not giving a shit and just letting anyone and everyone through

They could never cancel any previously bought tickets

Isn't this discrimination? So if there's a concert at Wembley Stadium, would Group Save tickets be withdrawn as well? Doesn't matter what happens in London, should be equality for all. I feel like FGW think we're all a black woman... racist pcunts.

Slightly confused. What is the problem here? It's Reading to London, not Reading to Outer Mongolia. Rock up to your station Saturday morning and get a one-day travelcard for about £25.

Or get a group save ticket for £15 each........

The issue is, many people have pre-bought a ticket and FGW are saying they won't be valid and people won't be able to board the train(s)

Of course they will pretty sure that would be illegal.

And like others have suggested why not get a group save from a slightly different location.. Reading West, Theale, Tilehurst etc

Assume Group Save is to Wembley and back only though ??

Don't think FGW can sell tickets to the public and then claim then invalid. Actually, it's FGW.........i'm sure then can!

First Great Western ‏@FGW
@dan1hare @maffff @charles_watts This is a mistake, and staff should be aware of this. Jess

First Great Western ‏@FGW
@dan1hare @maffff @charles_watts I'm afraid the GroupSave tickets will not be valid for travel, and you won't be able to board. Jess

First Great Western ‏@FGW
@dan1hare You can apply for a refund at your point of purchase, but this is subject to a £10.00 admin fee. Jess

They tried until DanH's twitter message

Basically they said you had to get a refund as the tickets will be invalid to travel with

No that's what they said, imagine the backlash if they did from anyone who had bought a group save, non football fans as well.

They wouldn't and couldn't hence why they have backtracked already to say they will be honoured.

Royal Lady We just ordered ours going from didcot parkway due to the train from Swindon being part bus via oxford and taking an extra 90 minutes or something stupid.

Do you not live anywhere near a station served by Chiltern Railways?

Direct train to Marylebone (for sports bar & grill obvs) and Wembley.....
