I think the difference with Adkins is that he was appointed by a Russian billionaire that turned out to be a con man. Clarke was appointed by a little Thai lady with green hair, so I don't see how he can have got the wrong idea about the owners!

I think however he probably looked at the squad, the 7th place and thought the players were better than what they are. If he was sold the job as an opportunity to "work with what we have got to achieve promotion" role but now realises that a complete rebuild is required to avoid relegation to the third tier (which we deserved this season), he might well be tempted to walk!

I doubt it though, there are only 44 jobs in the top two leagues, not many people would walk away from one without another lined up.

I dunno if Anton was a conman as such, wasn't it a case of his dad saying he would bankroll him and then deciding not to leaving him with no cash?

TBM Do you think we are playing better football now to this time last season?

yes.

The results say different:

3 defeats in 14 last season (last 2 months of the season) getting 22pts

7 defeats in 14 this season getting 10pts

Really? That would the existing own sold the club to someone who did not actually have the funds and was reliant on others to bankroll his fantasy of owing a Premier club, is that why Everton showed him the door when he approached them?
But surely a due diligence check was undertaken by the existing owner and the FA, to verify existence of monies and other checks.

Everton didn't
Anton did have the money, via his father who backed out
Why would the FA do due diligence ?
Due diligence at the point of sale is irrelevant if circumstances change. Boris changed his mind.
It's all very old hat to be honest.

Parky wouldn't come to Reading, not at the moment, and from what I've been told, I don't think we'd approach him at the moment anyway.

Nothing of any real substance though.

That site is about as reliable as the transfer rumours site.

Obviously it's not only Jonny Fordham who uses HNA as a source :!:

Not saying it's true but worth noting the editor is a Reading fan so it may have slight credibility

Probably means he's a member of a Reading forum, where he may have read about the rumour.

Clarke was talking about his plans for the club during the summer on BBCRB last night, so whatever.

Clarke had a month to sign a striker - and came up with Yakubu.
