TBM Look into League One - i'm sure those banging in 15+ goals wouldn't have cost as much as Murray

Wouldn't it be point disproven?
Murray would of cost us in the region of £1mill-£2mill
You were asking for a League One striker who had scored 15+ - Afobe had scored 10!

Pepe the Horsemanmelonhead money was there.but for some reason murray decided hed just prefer to play regularly at his own club, in the premiere league instead of for a rubbish relegation threatened club in the championship.
agree we should have had other targets, but transfers are just hard, and sometimes don't come off. especially when the money isn't very much, and the club isn't very good.
That was obvious. That's why we shouldn't have wasted time trying to sign him. Just not buying the 'he hasn't had a striker' excuse, when he had a month to sort it out, but instead chased a player who we realistically weren't going to get, then signed Yakubu.
Murray was on high wages, and would've cost what, £1.5m-£2m? Plenty of money to have signed a decent striker at this level, even if we were languishing in the bottom half.

andrew1957 When we had Afobe most on hear moaned about how crap he was. No doubt if we had paid 2M for him in January it would have been condemned as a shockingly bad buy. Most on here are never satisfied.
And frankly whether we end the season 17th or 21st has no bearing whatsoever on next season. Survival is survival. I would much prefer 21st and the cup run to 17th and no cup run. Clearly the players lost interest once we were safe and the cup became the sole focus. Once you lose focus it is very hard to get it back - hence the poor results since Arsenal. Although I am sure from what he said the other night that SC is genuinely angry with the general lack of resolve in the squad - hence many of the underperformers will go this summer.

GH Royal [Anyone know how much Eoin Doyle cost Cardiff?
He was banging them in, 21 goals in 26 apps in League One before he got signed. Currently on 2 goals in 13 apps for Cardiff.... Guess it doesn't always work out!

Went for Dellor, Rodgers style, on Tuesday when Dellor rightly suggested that, given how things currently are, we might be fighting relegation next season.

mikey0406 Clarke has seen the squad now, what is available to him, the youngsters coming through and he also now has an idea of who needs to leave to fund his re-build. The squads that are likely to get promoted this season have all spent money, we have not at this level...really, and still have many players on high wages strangling what the manage can do? will there be some money available to Clarke in the summer?? who knows but its going to be a massive overhaul in order to turn this team from battling relegation to promotion contenders.
Clarke knew exactly what he was taking on, yes Yakubu was probably a last minute panic but what else was available with the money we had? if you was looking for a proven goalscorer on paper yakubu ticked the boxes but for whatever reason, guessing that his real age of 50 was the real reason, it has not worked.
Clarke knows he is likely to rely on freebies and loans to improve the squad. the relationship with Chelsea will be interesting as he has proven that they will play here and start.... a few youngsters again would improve the squad greatly
Clarke will not leave and he will be given time to turn this around but do not underestimate what a pre-season can do if allowed to change players they way he wants to
