Not really speculation, but apparently Luke Garbutt is out of contract at Everton this summer and there's talk of him not signing a new deal, especially after he was left on the bench for a 19 year old at the weekend.

He's a pretty classy attacking left back and I think he'd be a cracking signing for us, although it might be tricky to get him over and above other interest.

Predictable. Nice and local, they'll pay decent wages. No need to move house. Shame.

Noel Hunt is available on a free. I always liked him, would have him back if we can't get Mackie, and as long as we get a bit more of a goalscorer in too.

Shame he's 32

His goals per minute at Ipswich are VG

398 minutes for 3 goals and an assist

133 mins/goal

100 mins/goal or assist

I'd take him for a year if he's cheap. Always was a good foil for a Number 9

Mills on his way to Forest as well. This transfer embargo is really hurting them.

It is if they've signed Mills because of it.

West Brom have already announced their retained list, Mulumbu, Baird among those released.

Would take Baird back again.

Not sure on Baird. Good player I'd happily have here, but I'm not sure he's really the type of player we're missing. If we sign a midfielder I think it should be someone who drives forward and scores goals. Maybe unless Jem doesn't sign, in which case he'd do alright.

I just think we've got a lot of midfielders already who, if they don't do exactly the same job, cover the same slot in the team. Williams, Norwood, Karacan, Akpan, Kuhl, Tshibola. They're all similarly deep inclined with the possible exception of Williams. But he doesn't score enough for me.

Maybe

Norwood/Kuhl....Baird/Tshibola
....................Williams

would work... dunno. Baird and Williams probably the closest I can think of to an effective midfield pair out of that lot.

#Saintsfc release six players including Jos Hooiveld and Artur Boruc. Cody Cropper, Omar Rowe, Jake Sinclair and Chris Johns have also left.

Quote from BBC Solent Sport. If Federici were to leave, I would definitely take Boruc unless Bournemouth snaps him up. Hooiveld also a back up for a season or so.

Bournemouth will sign Boruc - he was superb for them this season, so not sure why they would opt for Feds over him

Would take either Figueroa or McShane following their Hull release.

Reading FC could resign a full back who was released by Hull and centre forward released by Cheltenham Town (Mathieu Manset).
Probably won't see either in a RFC team line-up again.
But it goes to show how many players will be hoping to join a "new" club and why RFC are unlikely to invest much in transfer fees, again.

Suspect McShane was released due to wages - so WCBAP a problem for us as well ...
