I went (first ever time to a women's game at any level) after going to watch Leeds v Huddersfield (RL) earlier in the day, as a mate who went with me watches the women play a fair bit.

3-0 was a bit flattering, but Reading just had a confidence Doncaster lacked after taking the lead in the 2nd half. The second goal was brilliant/fortuitous, being a shot from about 40 yards. Very well hit, but the Doncaster keep was not only short, but jumped with all the agility of an ageing David Seaman, as the ball floated over her arms into the net.

If there are awards given out for enthusiasm, then one should go to a Reading fan who apparently goes to all of their games, home and away, banging his drum and singing songs (usually on his own) for the entire game. He really didn't endear himself to the locals, some of whom moved down the stand just to get away from him.

Bizarre moment of the day was seeing the Doncaster Belles mascot, a female viking, whose ancient Nordic ambience was compromised somewhat by her being on crutches and with her left foot in a surgical cast.

This is still the main issue in ladies football. Some of the skills and technical football is brilliant. The standard of 'keeping however is still on the rise at a much slower rate. There are some outstanding 'keepers around, but as yet there isn't the depth. i know it will improve but it does occasionally allow a soft goal like the one described.

I remember seeing this in the last world cup. A lot of the teams, especially in the earlier rounds, were just shooting on site and hoping the opponents keepers screwed up. I think there was 1 team with a particularly bad goalkeeper (Argentina, possibly) that lost one match about 11-0.

With a dearth of any news on contracts, friendlies and signings ( ) the RFC Twitter account was scraping the bottom of its own very splintered barrel earlier this week RT'ing the fascinating breaking story of Frank Kirby meeting Prince William. Reading FC Women 3 - 0 Millwall Lionesses (HT 1-0)

Emma Foll with a brace around a goal by Harriet Scott. Reading finished the match with 10 players, as Bianca Bragg for Reading was sent off on a straight red for a late challenge. Reading FC Women increased their advantage in goal differential by one over the Doncaster Rovers Belles, while the two clubs remain tied on points for the season after 8 matches played. This was Millwall's first loss of the season (2 wins and 5 draws prior).
